Hard to forget that scene. So sad.

New question:

@Raggedyaggie,
Okay. Since you say that it's the 50's, then it's "High Society"? The remake of "The Philadelphia Story"?

@eoe,
You got it, eoe. It was sort of a tie-in to Country Girl. (Bing Crosby).

Your turn.

1930's movie

She is in the garden, planting bulbs with a friend. She comments it is odd that she can feel the heat of the sun since the skies appear to be growing darker.

@firefly,
I saw a TV version, (Elizabeth Montgomery?) but that will always be Bette Davis' movie to me.

Late thirties

The man she loves is stricken with a disease. She convinces his wife it would be better if she accompanied him to the quarantined island where they will probably both die. The wife remains at home.

@Raggedyaggie,
Yes, the TV version had Elizabeth Montgomery. There is also another movie version with Susan Hayward called Stolen Hours (1963) that's fairly good.

Now I've got to mull over your clue. Confused

@Raggedyaggie,
Girlfriend! I just saw this, the first time in years and years, on Sunday. I laughed until I cried, too tickled by Miss Julie's antics. I could never get over how, in the end, she talked that woman right out of her man!!

We're talking "Jezebel".

@eoe,
I'm really in the dark on this one. I'll take a wild guess, just to keep things moving.

The Thrill of It All?
