Smile eoe, that was the first one I thought of. I remember the Jeopardy, but can't remember the category she excelled in. Flowers?

She excelled in EVERY category, across the board. She had studied everything and, in her own words, her mind was filled with a ton of useless ****. Laughing

5. Diner

(There's a scene where the Kevin Bacon character watches College Bowl, and gets all the answers right.)

Does the Dustin Hoffman character watch a quiz show in Rain Man? I actually thought of that movie before I thought of the scene in Diner, but, when I tried to remember what TV shows the Hoffman character watched in Rain Man, all I could remember was People's Court. ("Uh-oh -- time for Wapner" became a catch phrase between my mother and me whenever one of us did something slightly compulsive.)

Laughing Rainman is the one. I had forgotten all about Judge Wapner. But I remember him answering Jeopardy questions.

from Wikipedia Encyclopedia:

Raymond Babbitt (Dustin Hoffman) was an autistic man who always had to watch Jeopardy! at 5:00 and got nervous if he thought he was going to miss it. A clip showed Babbitt answering a question about Shakespeare, demonstrating his immense knowledge of the playwright and his works.

The kidnappers in "101 Dalmations" were watching a quiz show called "What's My Crime".

Paaskynen : I didn't see Radio Days and was curious. Here's something I found in a Roger Ebert review of the movie:

"...burglars who answered the phone in a house they were burgling and won the jackpot on "Name That Tune," and the prizes were delivered the next day to their bewildered victims. "

Sounds hilarious.

It was a great anecdotal film. The piece I remembered for this thread was the young narrator being present at the live recording of a radio show where a lady was asked to identify different stuffed fish. Strangely, I do not remember the burglars anymore, but I do remember the anecdote about a U-boat being spotted (off Coney Island?) by the narrator.

I guess I need to see the film again (twas a while ago and Woody Allen does not age as quickly as some others).

I am trying to remember the title of a French film featuring a quiz called "questions pour un champion" (very popular quiz on TV Cinq) at a campsite during a murder investigation.

"Groundhog Day" was on my list. Smile I have four more in mind.
I'm surprised that one of them hasn't been guessed. I've never seen a rainstorm like the one in that movie and don't believe I ever will.

And the Oscar goes to Mac. Very Happy Magnolia is correct.

12. Magnolia

Think of Robin of Sherwood Forest and you'll get another one I had in mind.
