House of Cards (Tommy Lee Jones) - Doctor working with autistic children. Was he a psychiatrist? Does anyone know?

I have the same question about Jeff Bridges's character in See You in the Morning that you had about Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting: the imdb plot summary of See You in the Morning says the Jeff Bridges character is a psychologist, but Roger Ebert's review calls him a psychiatrist.

I never saw House of Cards, so I don't know about the Tommy Lee Jones character.

I was surprised that Good Will Hunting had not been mentioned earlier. Is there any difference between psychologist and psychiatrist outside of the dispensing of drugs?

A psychiatrist has to be an M.D., a psychologist doesn't.

Right. The psychiatrist writes perscriptions, hence the M. D.

Laughing So where do we go from here? Apparently the reviewers didn't know the difference.

In "Terminator" and "Terminator 2" Linda Evans was told by a psychiatrist that she was delusional despite compelling evidence to the contrary.
