There is a funny scene in "The Big Sleep" where Humphrey Bogart flirts with a cute librarian.

wandeljw, that's a great scene in The Big Sleep, but are you sure it's in a library? I would have said it was a bookstore (but my memory isn't what it once was).

Some afterthoughts:
21. IT (1990), one of the heroes is a librarian and a bloody scene plays out at the library.

23. Elephant (2003), school library is featured
24. Z.P.G. (Zero Population Growth, 1972), hero is interrogated by secret service when looking up info about pregnancy and childbirth at the library.
25. Dreamcatcher (2003), one of the protagonists possessed by an alien moves around his own mind which has the form of a library.
26. The Mummy (1999), the female lead is a librarian (at the Britsh Museum I believe).
27. LOTR, the Fellowship of the Ring (2001), Gandalf looks up information in the library/archive of Gondor.

My memory is not that accurate. It may have been a bookstore rather than a library.

raggedy: you can replace "big sleep" with "farenheit 451", if you wish

The Breakfast Club was on my list of answers.

I just checked out The Big Sleep and Dorothy Malone was a bookseller. I'll put a question mark beside it in case there is also a scene in a library, Wandeljw.

Our messages crossed, Wandeljw, and it's funny that I was just thinking about Fahrenheit 451 with Oskar Werner. Very Happy

Libraries appear in many films simply as a set where people meet each other, especially in films about college and university, but since the focus is on the characters and not on the background it is hard to remember those scenes. In films about young lawyers taking on a big case a legal library often features. Furthermore, libraries play a role in films dealing with legendary monsters or demons, as the place where the heroes find information about what they're up against. The Da Vinci Code might well have library scenes, but I haven't seen the film, so I can't list it.

For the moment my memory is exhausted where libraries in films are concerned. Crying or Very sad

Well, what do you know! I just sat down to see my first weekend film, an old B-film, and coincidence has it that it opens with a scene at the Hong Kong University Library!

I forgot all about the library scene in Ghostbusters, and bree guessed two of my choices. Very Happy

I know Richard Benjamin was a librarian in Goodbye, Columbus, but I don't know if there were any scenes in the library so I'll not use it.

But, I'll add:

34. Storm Center (Doris Day was a librarian opposing censorship.)
