Answer to my interim question: (Al Pacino talking about his Oscar for "Scent of a Woman".)

The best elevator scene on film, in my opinion, is the opening scene of "Speed" (1994).

Ah, Scent of a Woman. Good one Wandeljw, but that was not several years ago - that was 14 years ago. Time does fly. Laughing

So for elevators we now have:

1. Charade
2. Speed

and two scenes I thought of - not an actual elevator ride - but a party anxiously hoping someone would be on the elevator were:

3. An Affair to Remember
4. Sleepless in Seattle

A favorite elevator scene of mine (if that is what we're doing here) is in the Blues Brothers. While SWAT are charging up the stairs and the building is being torn apart the Blues Brothers listen to elevator music on the calm ride up.

Gotta be either Glenn Close and Michael Douglas in "Fatal Attraction" or Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke in "9 1/2 Weeks". You decide which is the hottest. They're both RIGHT UP THERE in my book.

Laughing eoe. I was thinking "Fatal Attraction". I didn't see "9 1/2 Weeks".

1. Charade
2. Speed
3. An Affair to Remember
4. Sleepless in Seattle
5. Speed
6. Blues Brothers
7. Fatal Attraction
8. 9 1/2 Weeks

How about the one where the guy didn't like (to put mildly) riding in a glass enclosed elevator (sort of a spoof/takeoff on a James Bond Film), or any elevator for that matter?

I remember watching a talk show where a guest was talking about Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger. However, he kept referring to their movie as "5 1/2 Weeks". Finally the talk show host asked, "You mean '9 1/2 Weeks' don't you?"

The guest replied, "Oh. I must have left before the movie was over." Smile

The climactic scene of "In the Line of Fire" occurs in a glass elevator. (Maybe it should be #10 because "Speed" is listed twice.)

And a funny one in Pretty Woman when Julia Roberts rides the elevator for the first time with Richard Gere to his suite. ( Lots of elevator rides in that one. )
