You got it!

I almost said "embalmed" by the critics, but I didn't want to make it too easy for you! (And I frequently revisit the works of the author of Brideshead Revisited.)

I've come up with a movie title that fits the question, but the movie isn't based on a book. I'm sure it isn't what you're looking for, but maybe it will get me a clue.

The Lady with a Lamp (Wilding) + All About Eve (Davis)

Not "The Lady Eve". That's one of your favorite movies, isn't it?

I'm looking for a book that's been made into a movie many times.

I'd like to give you an "e" for effort, but I've run out of "e"s . However, if you guess this question correctly, you'll definitely receive an "A".

Yes, The Lady Eve is one of my favorite movies. And it's a lot jollier than

The Scarlet Coat (Wilding) + The Letter (Davis)

Yes to The Scarlet Letter.

I have but one comment to make about The Lady Eve, (which I, too, enjoyed) and that is that I found it unbelievable.

How on earth could any woman be attracted to a/an herpetologist? Laughing

Well, it helps if he's Henry Fonda! (Of course, it also helps if the woman in question doesn't have a phobia about snakes.)

Back with a new question in a bit.

While Bree's pondering, I'll give this thread a boost. Smile

And just because this thread will soon be going to another page on my posts, here's another combination:

(The) Patrick Swayze (1) + Robert Young (1) + Bette Midler (1)

No hurry. Just don't want to forget about it. Smile

I could have sworn I'd seen you around here, mac!

I haven't had a chance to look at part 2 of Raggedy's question (which I assume produces the same movie title as part 1), but I hope it gives me something more to work with, because I was completely stumped on part 1. In fact, when I saw you had posted on this thread, I was hoping you had come up with the answer and put me out of my misery!

Sometimes all it takes to solve a problem is to look at it from another angle -- as soon as I looked at the list of Patrick Swayze's movies, the answer came to me.

(The) Joy in the Morning (Chamberlain) + The Luck of the Irish (Power) + The Cotton Club (Gere)

(The) City of Joy (Swayze) + Lady Luck (Young) + The First Wives Club (Midler)

Do you have a question? Or would you like me to ask another, or would you rather I didn't bother? Laughing I've misplaced my list at the moment, but I think we've covered over 45 books into movies so far.

HELLO Mac.
Last time I saw you here I asked you if you had seen any new movies. Since a week or more passed by without a reply, I assumed that either you hadn't seen any or that you were too busy watching a new stack to reply. Laughing

The last movie I saw in a theater was Broken Flowers. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Before that, a couple of summer blockbusters: War of the Worlds (scary!) and Batman (better than I expected - great supporting cast).

I was supposed to see The Aristocrats this past weekend, but weather and other obstacles got in the way.

I've seen a few DVDs lately. Currently I'm watching the recent version of The Merchant of Venice with Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, and Joseph Fiennes. (Had to take an intermission, but will probably watch the rest of it tomorrow.)

Thanks Mac. I just checked out Batman. You're not kidding - what a supporting cast. Michael Caine as Alfred sounds great. So does Merchant of Venice.

Bree: Could you give a clue as to how many words are in the title of the book/movie in question? I haven't had any luck with it so far.

Sorry about that -- I just edited my original post to include the number of words in the title!

Bree. That's what I thought - one word each. That is absolutely no help to me.

I didn't know you could edit a post after someone commented. I'd like to know how to do that.
