Aggie, once again great pix, and killer questions!

OH and...in the Meantime...doin' nothing; sure is a worrying...the way the time is hurrying... MeannnTiiiiimme, sure is a worryin' Meeeee eeeeeeee! :-)

I adored the tv special Julie & Carol at Carnegie Hall and to me, this is the best tune to come out of it! Fits in with Carol's rendition of Happily Ever After from Once Upon a Mattress!

Oh, bree, I was just listening to Audra MacDonald (and trying to decide which cd to download to my new [to me] iPod!). I sure hope she's better-she is so wonderful!

I really liked Young Lions, mumbley German or not. But is was Monty who I loved in it.

Hi Loislane. I was thinking "in the meantime, in between time, ain't we got fun. Very Happy I never saw Julie and Carol at Carnegie Hall, but have snippets from it on lots of specials. Don't know how I missed that one. I love Audra McDonald and Brian Stokes Mitchell in B'way's Ragtime. Have you ever heard that soundtrack?

As for Young Lions, I, too, loved Monty. I had read the book before I saw the movie and, of course, the book didn't have such a happy ending where Monty's role was concerned. I was a Brando fan, too, so if he mumbled I never noticed it.

Ah, yes, Ain't We got Fun is nearly the same vintage as "...slide down my cellar door, and we'll be jolly friends for ever more!" Playmate, I believe!

Well, if you're ever in NYC, you should definitely wander over to the Museum of Broadcasting and check it and Carol's version of Once Upon a Mattress out. They were both direct to TV versions. It makes a fabulous rainy day visit to NYC!

Brando is quite handsome--sadly, who doesn't look fine in a german uniform!? I've never read the book though.

This actor has played:

Fictional U.S. president
Fictional musician
Fictional college professor (twice)
Fictional psychiatrist (twice, but one of the movies is kind of obscure, so it's OK if you can only find one)

Bree: Is Audra McDonald going to perform tonight?

I'm going to take a chance with:

Jeff Bridges

Fictional U.S. Pres. - The Contender
Musician - The Fabulous Baker boys
College Professor - The Mirror Has Two Faces and Arlington Road
Psychiatrist - K-Pax ,and I think he was a either a psychiatrist or a psychologist in See You in the Morning

You're absolutely correct about Jeff Bridges, and you got all the movies, including See You in the Morning (which I liked, but very few other people did).

I don't know yet whether Audra McDonald's concert tonight is on or off. A friend who goes to a gym near Lincoln Center told me he'd stop by the box office after his workout this afternoon to ask what the story is, and then give me a call, but I haven't heard from him yet. Fingers crossed.

Aaah. I hope she'll be able to perform. I'll keep my fingers crossed, too.

I saw "See You in the Morning" and I liked it very much.

Be back shortly with a new question.

Yippee -- Playbill.com says tonight's concert is on! I hope she's feeling up to it. But as the friend with whom I'm going to the concert said, even if she's only at 80% of her normal self, 80% of Audra McDonald is better than 100% of most people.

Thinking about your question...

Did you guys see the Inside the Actors Studio interview with Morgan Freeman? I loved it when he said that, whenever anyone says he's played a black President, he replies, "I didn't play a black president, I am black."

Yes, that was great. It was a wonderful interview all around.

Sadly, my cable company has just removed Bravo from my Expanded Basic service. I'm considering paying for Digital service just to get it back!

I missed it. I think I was recording something else at the time. Sad I can't get away from TCM.

I'm thinking about pirates and V.Ps, Mac, but getting nowhere. I thought of Frank Langella, but he didn't play a V.P.
Kingsley played a V.P., but I don't think he ever played a pirate.

And Johnny Depp played a pirate, but I don't think he played any of the other roles!

I'm off -- I'll report on the concert sometime over the weekend.

Great weekend all!
bree--do let us know how Audra is; I'm off to see Andrea Marcovicci tomorrow (and will ask about the Berlin disc Aggie!) and Million Dollar Baby tonight and an art exhibition in San Jose on Sunday.

Not sure what your cable company has, but I can tell you that they were sneaky by letting us have digital cable and new converters free. They just increased some of the packages. I dumped some stuff, so it ended up being cheaper for me.

We just got In Demand, which takes films or sports or series or specials from Showtime, HBO and the Starz series and decide when you want to see them. You can fast forward through parts, pause it do nearly everything TiVo does except tape what you watch. As long as you subscribe to that particular service it's free: so I can watch anything from HBO or Starz for free, but I can't watch Pay Per View or Showtime unless I pay the $2-$3 fee.
Still, kinda handy.
Anyway, ciao--swamped this weekend, so may miss you all. Carry on brilliantly!
