Very Happy I started this quiz with movie scenes, and we pretty much exhausted that category. So, we then had some fun with rewording songs from musicals -
and now, we're working on movie roles. I think this is the 42nd actor/actress in that category.

fictional President
fictional Senator
police officer (at least twice. I'll accept two)
Missionary

after three guesses, I'll give a clue.

Newbie... A girl and co. pick up her car from a garage. The mechanic doesn't want to give them the car because they don't have enough money to pay for the tire.

Laughing Rystal. You've got me wondering what your scene is, but since it's a new one, I probably won't know it.

I'm still thinking about the question Raggedy asked earlier today. I have no idea who it is, so I'll make three guesses for a clue:

Gene Hackman (fictional president in Absolute Power, fictional senator in The Birdcage, police officer in The French Connection and The French Connection II -- but I don't think he ever played a missionary)

Walter Huston (fictional president in Gabriel Over the White House, police officer in The Beast of the City, and missionary in Rain -- but as far as I know he never played a senator)

Lionel Barrymore (missionary in Sadie Thompson and fictional senator in Duel in the Sun -- but I don't think he ever played a president, and I can't imagine him as a police officer!)

Yes to Gene Hackman. Very Happy
He played the Rev. John Whipple in "Hawaii". He and the Max Von Sydow character were class-mates and friends who journeyed together as missionaries to Hawaii. The Hackman character, becoming disillusioned with the practices of the missionaries, later left the church and if I recall correctly became a doctor. "The Hawaiians" with Charlton Heston was a sequel and dealt more with the Chinese, Japanese, etc. influences on Hawaii. I think I'll read that book again. I LOVE Hawaii.

Your turn, Bree.

I had completely forgotten about Gene Hackman's role in Hawaii -- I don't think I've seen the movie since it came out, in 1966.

Thinking about a new question...

Yes to Paul Newman. I was actually thinking of Torn Curtain for the physicist role (I forgot about The Prize). He also played a private detective in The Drowning Pool and Twilight, and was a lawyer in The Young Philadelphians.

Your turn, wandeljw.

Wandelj: The actor I'm thinking of fits the roles, but one of them is a TV movie, which we don't use here. But, you didn't know that. Very Happy Am I correct? Is one of the movies a TV movie?

Victor Mature is correct.

By the way, there is a funny story connected with the made for tv "Samson". When Victor Mature was asked why he would play Samson's father in an inferior remake of his own classic, he replied: "For the money they offered me, I would have even played Samson's mother."
