I thought the photographer role might bring Jimmy Stewart to mind, but he's not the one I'm thinking of. This is an actor we haven't had before (that I can remember).

Raggedy has it! "Fashion photographer" might have been a better description of his role in Funny Face, but I deliberately withheld that information because I knew you'd find it a dead giveaway.

Yes, fashion photographer would have helped. I had a *#**# trying to think of the composer and "psychiatrist".

No problem with the scientist in On the Beach, though. I loved that Gregory Peck movie.

EOE: You were indeed fortunate to see Peck in person. I had no idea what a generous and remarkable individual he was until I saw that TV special.

Mac: Did you enjoy "Being Julia"?

Be back with a new question after lunch. Very Happy

Unfortunately I didn't make it to the movies on Sunday. The day just filled up! It may not last though, so I better get myself over there or resign myself to seeing it next year on DVD...

I'm thinking about your question.

Nope. First I thought of Warren Beatty (I thought he might have come to mind since we've been talking about the missus lately, and he played a real-life gangster in both Bonnie and Clyde and Bugsy), but I couldn't find any of the other parts for him. Then I thought of Jimmy Cagney, who was a real-life songwriter in Yankee Doodle Dandy and The Seven Little Foys (and was a gangster in many movies, although I'm not sure if he ever played a real-life gangster), but couldn't find the others. Next I thought of Don Ameche, who was a real-life inventor in The Story of Alexander Graham Bell and a real-life songwriter in Swanee, but ... well, you get the picture.

Is all that thinking enough to get me a hint?

I just did give you a hint. But, I'll give it to you again, because although you're all charged up, you just haven't seen the Idea yet.

Oh, OK, I think I've got the actor now, but I'm still missing a couple of the movies. I'm about to leave the office, so I'll try think of which movies fit, while I'm on the subway (and eating dinner, and playing the piano -- it may be a while!)

Mickey Rooney

Helicopter Pilot - The Bridges at Toko-Ri
Real-life gangster - Baby Face Nelson
Real-life songwriter - Words and Music (as Lorenz Hart, who -- with Richard Rodgers -- wrote Johnny One Note and The Blue Room, neither of which I played tonight!)
Real-life (potential) inventor - Young Tom Edison

Whew!

Very Happy Bravo, Bree.

Did you know there were actually three versions of Blue Room with entirely different lyrics? I just learned that on the Rogers special. Smile
