Topsy-Turvy
An Awfully Big Adventure
Illuminata (I loved that movie, and thought I was the only person who had seen it!)
Dancer in the Dark
Clue: the wife isn't a professional singer, but (together with her husband) practices a completely different profession

I don't think I've seen the film in question, bree. (I wouldn't be at all surprised if you and I were the only ones who'd seen Illuminata! )

I'm still waiting for Illuminata to show up on TV.
Oh Bree, I think your movie has something to do with dentists, but I didn't see it.
Fealola? Mac? Anybody? Think Dentist!

It's something about Dentists. I remember it was used as one of the guesses for a scene. hmmm. I'm thinking.

Raggedy is on the right track with dentists (which takes away the subtle hint I was going to drop, about how it's like pulling teeth to get the right answer).
Clue 2: This is one of two movies the actress who plays the wife appeared in, in 2003. She got much more attention -- including a Golden Globe nomination as best supporting actress -- for her work in the other 2003 movie she was in.

Yay, Raggedy (and thank you!) -- you got it!
I liked that movie a lot, especially for its extremely unsentimental depiction of small children. I recommend it, if it ever shows up on TV.

I'll be on the lookout for it, Bree.
Newbie
They lunch at a speakeasy. The actress orders two Martinis and the playwright is flattered that she knows his drink - until she explains that both drinks are for her.

You got it Mac. Bullets Over Broadway. I loved Chazz Palminteri in that one.

How weird -- my two favorite movie scores of recent years are Bullets Over Broadway and Illuminata! I have both CDs, and play them frequently.

It does get rather weird ( this ESP stuff)- around here, Bree.
I was just reading the song titles from the Illuminata soundtrack. It sounds like an entirely different type of music than that of Bullets Over Broadway - more on the classical side?
