Did Teddy Roosevelt impose consumer protection laws (e.g., Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906, Meat Inspection Act of 1906) against the wishes of big business? Or did big business support the passage of the laws in order to protect themselves from competition and in the belief that they could control the government regulatory agency?
