just read (MSNBC ?) that this year's flu-vaccine is only about 40% effective (usually 70%) .
one of the flu strains refused to co-operate and went his/her own way .
pool closed today : FAMILY DAY in ontario !
so i exercised in the laz-a-boy - terrific workout - worked up quite an appetite  !

An excellent routine, technically known as "Seated Cushion Static
Hold-Downs." Well done, sir!
Quote:Seated Cushion Static Hold-Downs.
certainly gave me a good appetite - or was that caused by the NZ lambleg simmered in portwine  ?
never mind , i'll try the cushion whatever again before tea .

Did the Leslie Sansone workout (with weights!), then the walk. Oof. I'll see how I feel tomorrow. I'm okay but knees are a little sore.
George and I should pass each other on the Boston Post Road this week as we are (virtually) only 32 miles apart.
My Map
The progression most people went through here, George, was sore throat, followed by post nasal drip followed by long bout of dry cough with the occasional cough up of something that looked like the chewing gum you swallowed in seventh grade.
If you are still in the nasal stage and know how to use a neti pot...
Joe(Now is the time.)Nation
Just looked up "neti pot".
Yikes!
I'll stay with the hot, steamy, shower method.
I'm definitely on the mend.
Today looks to be close to 40 (F) with some sun.
Good day to jog.
Get better soon; there's a guy in my office wearing a mask (er, surgical-style, not Freddy Kreuger) who I think has the same affliction.
Did my 30 reps today, including abs stuff which I had not been doing for a while due to what felt like an oblique strain. All better now but I am tired.
Plan for February --
Walk on even days, lift on odd days.
Feb 18, Feb 11, Feb 8 -- shoulders, abs, back, chest
... , Feb 12, Feb 4 -- treadmill 4.0 miles with varying elevation, 675 calories avg, 66 mins avg
... , Feb 13, Feb 6 -- biceps, triceps, quads, hamstrings
... , Feb 14, Feb 7 -- treadmill 4.0 miles with varying elevation, 675 calories avg, 66 mins avg
Feb 15, Feb 9, Feb 1-- calves, gluts, inner and outer thighs
Feb 15, Feb 9, Feb 2 -- treadmill 4.0 miles with varying elevation, 675 calories avg, 66 mins avg
Didn't do much Sunday or Monday. Business travel coming up again next Sunday - Tuesday and a very high stress week this week. It's gonna be a haul to keep up with the plan.
I admire all of you, I really do. You're simply amazing.
3.0 miles under the beautiful moon.

Chilly here, my work buddy and I want to walk at lunch but it is FREAKIN' cold at the waterfront.
But -- 2 days ago was 50 days I've been exercising on a daily basis.
Well, the boss has been away (Yea!) but that means more work for me (boo!) and although I ran in the cold moonlight the night before last (yeah?) I haven't felt good since.(ah. uh) Friday I am off (yea!) but it is going to snow or worse --- an icy, wintery mix--- (boo!)

On the virtual run, I am just West of West Haven, still on the old Post Road. I am turning North at New Haven and following the Berlin Tunpike up to Hartford then East to my hometown.
One other note: yesterday morning just about this time...... I heard a robin. (yea!)
Fbaezer--
Very wise.
Joe--
I envy you that robin.
Jes--
Fifty-two days, one for every week in the year. Go girl, Go!
Thanks! I also have robin envy.
Doing a little better this month than January.
Ran the 300 mt in 1.01; the 500 mt in 2.19.
Slightly better times on the 4 K.
Building a cushion for the 750 K. goal. It's still thin as paper.

Here every morning is cool and fine. For example, today it was 54F. with 45% humidity when I started and about 57F and 40% humidity when I finished.
Fit for running better than I do.

Will talk later about the people I've met in the Circuit. A few of them happen to be interesting.
Got out early this morning. Beat the snowplow to the road. Kept having to stop to take pictures. So nice, No wind, gently falling snow and so quiet.
Did three miles and a little bit more. Went home and got back into bed.

That's Zatopek style training, Joe(can run with snow shoes)Nation!
(Me, I did 7 K. today. Finally)
Good for you on the 7K!
How did the last 100 meters feel?
Joe(Like you could do another 500?)Nation
I've been ostensibly sluggish today. Resenting snowfall takes a great deal of energy--although I'm not sure about burning calories.
