Another 30 reps today. Plus a buncha calf raises at my desk (work was kinda dull today). Slow and steady pace for this particular race.

George: I'm having the best time with the Garmin. (Note: I am not a shill for this product.) I love having data and this thing is data rich. The only thing is that there is not any way to print anything out or save the data in any form except within the Garmin software. That's okay, I guess, unless you are trying to show someone (you) what the screen looks like.

I deleted yesterday's run while trying every which way to print/save/export the info. So..... Here's a screenshot, actually taken by my Palm because you can't printscreen the stuff either.

The thing will measure out how fast you went for any distance you decide. Want to know by the mile, input it, want to see all the pacing by the quarter mile or 1/8 of a mile. Click it onto your routine and after the run, it automatically transfers itself (bluetooth) to your computer. Also measures your Cadence (mine never varies 94-95 paces per minute, uphill or down, flat or not) Pace, Heatbeat, Heartbeat Min/Max, Calories burned (based on the weight you input) and how many steps you took to complete the distance. During the run I can see how fast (never fast for me) I am running the mile I am in. (That's fun for me.)

Joenation HAve a look at this program. It should be able to download your From your Garmin unit. Its free (up to 100 waypoint).

I use it as a transfer program for getting info from my magellan explorist 400 into MAPINFO so that I can overlay GOPS data onto aerial and satallite photos.

If it wont download try >start >explore >F drive >waypoints (or other relevant file) >copy/past into a folder on your desktop/my docs Then open the garmin file using GPSU (this program) from there.
I can help with basic file transfer stuff but with a little experimentation you should be able to get more out of it.

Edit: I'll just put the link here shall I

Anyone here tried a gymstick???

Site for the thing...it's an ad, of course, sorry!

I got one the other day (with misgivings)...but I know I do better with consistency if I can do it at home...not in some damn gym.

I have to say I am loving the strengtheners that combine stretches....

I got a "strong" one...but, unrolled around the sticks, it is weak!!!! I have moved to several rolls of the elastic thingies straight away.

It's a bit soon to say what I think, which is why I am interested to know if any others have used it, and like it, or hate it.

The pix they have showing use of the stick remind me of all the Suzanne Somers gadgets that were so trendy in the 90's. I tried one once. Gave up when I lost control of it, it whacked me in the head, and I had a bruise under my eye and a sore chin for a week.

Lol! They do warn you.

I'm a faithful sort of soul though.....I bet I am the only person in the whole world who still uses her Ab-roller.

I'm not good with tools or gadgets.

I have trouble in dance class when I have to move my hands from one side to the other AND continue to use the finger cymbals Embarrassed

The only thing I can do REALLY well with an exercise object is balance things on my head, and that opportunity really doesn't come up very often.

You are not.

I don't use mine as often as I should, but it really, really works on strengthening all muscles between the crotch and the rib cage.

Sisterhood!

Ah, it looks like my resistance bands but with the option of attaching them to a stick. What I have has two handles and all three bands can attach to the handles. There's also an attachment for holding it (I think in a door frame) if you want to just do one arm or leg or have it held for you and you don't have a partner.

I use 'em every morning while waiting for the PC to boot up. I just stick one foot on the middle of the bands to hold them down and pull on both handles so that my elbows go up behind me. Works the triceps nicely, which is the, heh, bingo wings portion of my anatomy. Also helps to wake me up in the mornings. Smile

I do 30 reps on pretty much everything except for the bands (60 reps) and calf raises (a good 100 reps or so, and I can do a good 100 - 120 calf bounces on the three up escalators I get on every morning, then another 75 - 100 on the 2 up escalators I get on every afternoon).

Interesting info on ab equipment: http://sportsmedicine.about.com/od/abdominalcorestrength1/a/Best_Ab_Ex.htm Looks like they recommend a bicycle crunch, which is kind of like a situp but the elbow touches (or comes as close as possible to touching) the opposite knee. Vertical leg was good, too, and those two can be done without equipment. Ab roller came in 6th of what they checked, which was not bad, it seems. Situps are listed as the "basic abdominal crunch" and come in 11 (out of 13). Exercise ball workouts came in 3rd, BTW.

PS We may walk today, it kinda depends on the weather. Verra cold right now.

The deceptively simple, vicious gadget also firms the upper arms.

One can suffer efficiently.

Didn't walk yesterday, too freakin' cold. Today, though, is a different story. We both intend to walk so that means we'll actually do it.

http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/9164/feb172008048ar7.jpg You got your ice melting here in New York. Rain this morning, Monday, so I'm running tonight.

Ran 6.0 completely uneventful miles Sunday, I've run more in Feb. than I did in all of Jan and Dec. (even with the vacation miles)

Hope you are feeling better George.

Got in a good walk yesterday, probably a good mile. There are two up inclines. The first one doesn't bother me at all any more. The second one is a lot steeper but not too bad. Today, dunno if we'll go as we're waiting for the plumber dude and I dunno if he'll make an appearance on a holiday (he was kinda iffy about it). Might just do a Leslie Sansone session (she's on Comcast On Demand> Sports & Fitness > Fit TV > Walking) instead.

Today after warming up, I started on all the exercises I'd rather not do. All that's left are the graceful ones.

This is gonna be a rough week.

I've got something that, if not the flu, is certainly flu-like.
It is making the rounds of my respiratory system, today nestled snugly in
my sinuses and inner ears. It feels like someone stuck a deflated balloon
up my nose and then blew it up.

I decided that a little jog would probably be good for me. The rain had
stopped and it was a balmy 60 degrees out. So I took a jog. The rain
started in again when I was halfway around. In retrospect, this was
probably not a wise decision.

But anyway...

Week 7

24.6 miles

Scheduled cumulative mileage: 140
Actual cumulative mileage: 152.1

[On the virtual Jog to Georgia, I'm in Westbrook Center CT]
