While we're at rest here, I'll tell you about the one I didn't post - Piet Oudolf's own garden in the Netherlands, with a view of wavy hedge tops. He's the fellow credited with starting New Wave garden design - various kinds of grasses and perennials instead of endless lawns.
Now that would have been a photo with a good clue... but the one I found on line had a special superduper copyright warning, and I couldn't find another with the wavy hedge.

In the meantime, if anyone is interested, the Jan/Feb 2008 issue of Garden Design has a good photolayout and text on Oudolf and his own garden in particular.
