I recalled a story told by my recently passed sister in law this morning and that brought to mind this thread. Geraldine told me of a regular in the comic book store who claimed to have written a first draft story but needed a ghostwriter to make it publishable. He asked her to undertake the task. She was handed a sloppily typed manuscript that sketched in a few characters and outlined their exploits. When it came to battle scenes he typed something like "They have a battle. Fill in the details." Turned out it was a suggestion of a story but the "ghostwriter" was expected to write all of it, gifting him the writer's credit. She gently handed it back and said, "No."
