Rosie was spayed yesterday and was very sorry for herself - i drove her home from the vets with her holding her paw out through the bars of her carrier and me holding it! Every time i had to let go to change gear she waved it to be held again and i had to drive home one handed!

I felt awful at having it done to her but we just can't have kittens. Last night it was obviously upsetting her and she kept trying to run away from the hurting. Crying or Very sad

Today she is doing really well, a little gentler than usual but playing and moving, eating and jumping about easily. She's not worrying at her stitches so isn't having to wear an Elizabethan collar (those bucket affairs that cats and dogs have round their necks to stop them worrying at injuries).

She didn't hold a grudge either and fall out with us, which i wondered if she might do.

I am sooooo glad that hurdle is over.

Vivien, good for you and Rosie! I felt absolutely terrible when we took Nisse and Mysan home from the vet's that day. The poor little things. But they also did fine and were not mad at us at all.

Give Rosie a hug from us! Brave little girl!

Aw Viv., I know how you feel. I felt the same when we had Paddy declawed, something I would never do again, because he was not a happy camper. I felt so sorry for him, and was very happy when we realized Lacey would not have that done because she is very gentle and rarely uses her claws except to try to file them.

Paddy was neutered when we adopted him, so was Lacey.

Poor Rosie, she is such a good pal to you, it's obvious you're the most important person in her life, and that's precious:)

didn't you just mention Felix Noir on another thread? tell us more if I've got it right!

Rosie is loads better today and i can pick her up (very carefully) without her worrying at all. She's diving in and out of cardboard boxes, has been digging in the compost in one of my plants, scattering the compost everywhere and is now toasting in a patch of sunlight ... so all is as usual.

Himself has finally agreed to go over to Ireland this year for a break and my parents have agreed to have Rosie. If we go away in this country I'd take her with us but the journey to Ireland would be just tooo much for her

Delighted to hear Rosie is all mended and her usual self!

Do you think she'll be okay when you leave? Not that your parents wouldn't take the best of care of her, but will she pine?

I sure hope not.

well she would be nervous at my paretns but she is used to visiting them and they adore her.

The journey to the ferry is 5-6 hours, then there is the queuing and boarding time, at least 3 1/2 hours on the ferry, disembarking time and 5+ hours travel in Ireland - that is without counting stops for coffee and meals. I think that is just too much to put her through to take her with us.

I thought we'd stop overnight near the ferry as it goes at an unearthly hour in the morning. Motels may not like a cat - though we could probably smuggle her in! it would all be terribly stressful though.

She's leaping about almost normal today and doesn't worry about being picked up at all - though i am still very very careful.

Oh, Vivien, how nice of you to even CONSIDER taking her on such a trip! Very Happy
I'm certain she'll be OK with your parents. (I'm also certain that they'd know how much Rosie means to you & will do all the right things.)
Enjoy your holiday! Very Happy

I'm sure Rosie would love Ireland, though. She could kiss the Blarney Stone! Smile

I can't remember where the Blarney stone is in Ireland

We will (I hope) be going to Donegal, which is where himself is from. The coast looks beautiful and there are mountains .... and no doubt being Ireland ....LOADS of rain!

I've seen a house by a quay that i fancy if my daughter and her husband are coming with us. She is keen to explore her Irish heritage.

Rosie is doing brilliantly, I'd bought a small wicker basket to keep paperwork in and she'd curled up in it yesterday, so i bought her a bigger one of her own today and she's asleep in it now and seems to love it - spoilt animal!

Well - the Blarney Stone is the diagonally opposite direction to Donegal - it's in Blarney Castle, which is just outside Cork (that's just in Australian distances - it's about 10-20 miles or so - long while since I was there!)

Donegal is fabulous - so rugged and beautiful. A great part of the country. Just another part of Ireland that I got lost in!

Ireland - rain - it's what you get - how d'ya think it got so green!?
