@edgarblythe,
Someone in the family who is languishing is never easy on anyone involved. My thoughts are with your family, Edgar.

@Reyn,
Thanks, reyn. I plan to do a thread about him, once I get up the gumption.

Hey, bumping up this old thread, Edgar.

We had some good exchanges here! Wink

How goes the job these days?

We had a big dump of snow here last night, and now we're getting rain. The snow is very heavy to shift.

Hey, reyn.
I am still plugging away at the same job. I like the people I work with. That makes it all worthwhile.
We are in the coldest part of winter. It actually got down to about 23 degrees this morning, for a few hours. One more night of it ahead, then it will warm up for perhaps a week.
My son will be getting married tomorrow. So I will not be on line as much as normal.

@Rockhead,
This time, he picked a girl he has known for a long time. They claim to have been best friends for about four years.

@Rockhead,
Boiled rice ought to be safe. We can make balls of it to throw.

@edgarblythe,
Yeah, I probably would be happy with your extreme heat that you get either. Laughing

I really appreciate the milder weather we're having here now. Back east, it's quite nasty!

You're getting quite the extended family. I hope all are doing well.

For the past 2-3 months, I'm dealing a lot more with my 84 year old mother. She's increasing having more problems, like with memory, confusion, finishing sentences, etc, along with physical stuff like balance issues.

Right now, she's in the process of being assessed by our local senior's clinic in our hospital to see what's to be done. At the least, she should have home support / care aides coming to her home on a regular basis. I can't be there all time. It's been wearing me down a bit lately dealing with various things.

I am a orphing. But my wife is having problems with her mother. She is in an endless circle between hospital stays and a nursing home. My wife spends Tuesdays and Fridays with her. Her siblings take turns going the other days.

@edgarblythe,
Your wife is fortunate that way. I only have one sibling, a sister, and she lives a long ways away in my province. I'm it - no other relatives here.

I keep in touch with my sister mainly via email as to what's going on.

As I mentioned, this is still a relatively new experience for me, but there will come a time when my mother will need to willing accept some kind of home support from a company that provides those type of services. I don't think I can keep this up on a long term basis.

@Reyn,
In the end, you have to protect your own well being, for the sake of yourself and your wife. That is why, in my opinion, the sooner this kind of help is accessed, the better for all concerned. There is bound to be some sort of help you can arrange for her. Please don't think I am suggesting that you abandon her. I know you would not. Just, you need help now, as I see it.

@edgarblythe,
Yes, and thanks for echoing what my wife and I have already thought about.

I think some of this will come to a head next month when my mother is due to see a geriatric specialist.

Nice talking to you! Very Happy
