We are going to Goodson's restaurant in Tomball tonight. Her last good meal before it happens. She is very nervous, but bearing up well. I like the hospital she will be in. The people we have met so far seem capable and caring. They took a bacteria sample from my wife as part of an effort to keep those super germs from taking a hold in the building, something the last hospital failed to do. Thanks for the well wishes.

@edgarblythe,
Yep... it's good for them to take those precuations. Over here before major surgery they always test for MRSA... wise precautions. She will be good hands. Lots of TLC tonite and then onwards and upwards tomorrow. Try not to worry - with your daughter alongside in the weeks to come if necessary, you will have expert help too. Take care of yourself too - please don't overtire yourself.

Will check in with you tomorrow evening... gonna have to try some shuteye now.

(((((((((Edgar and Mrs Edgar))))))))))) xx

Unfortunately, yes, with more on the way tonight, tomorrow, and maybe Tuesday and Wednesday. In other words, they've doomed the next little while.

To add to the misery, we have arctic outflow winds, dropping the temps to record lows for this area.

Hope you're fine. Wink

Edgar, hoping all is well with you and your wife. Let us know how the op went.

Well, the surgery portion went very well. The doc is a pro and he knows his way around inside a shoulder. But ,getting to the surgery was a different matter. We left so early, because of the unpredictability of the traffic, that we got there a whole hour early. Strangely, they wanted us to get there at seven thirty, then for her to lie on a bed until nine thirty. Then he doc got involved in overtime with the prior patient, and did not get to my wife until twelve noon. The board that marks the progress of patients in surgery was never updated until the doc was about finished.

He put her in a room near three thirty. She did very well, and only needed pain medicine three or four times before we went home. We were intended to spend the night and go home early. But, the doctor on duty today made no rounds at all, and so did not check us out. About three PM, my daughter, who works fr the good doc, called and then called her boss. He chewed asses and we were sent home at about six PM.

The mrs is sleeping on the couch. The bed is uncomfortable for her.

Thanks all who have expressed an interest. I think she will be fine.

@edgarblythe,
Excellent news to wake up to Edgar. I hope Mrs Edgar managed to get some rest - the anaesthetic will prolly make her nod on and off for a few days - sleep sleep sleep - gives the body time to heal. So pleased it went well. Now, don't YOU go overdoing it either. Whatever can be left not doing - don't do it - just concentrate and you and your lady - wishing a speedy recovery for her.

so glad all is well. x

The hospital is no place to rest. All night long with the checks and and whatever they do. Plus, the bed is not that comfortable. The worst spot in my wife's shoulder was where a huge bone spur cut the tendon. My wife is actually doing well this morning. She was able to shower, after we covered the bandage with plastic, which in itself makes her feel so much better.

@edgarblythe,
Yup, been there, done that, a few times.

It's really important to keep the immediate area of the incision super clean to avoid infections (which my wife catches easily). We use a product called Stanhexidine for anti-bacterial cleansing. It's a chlorhexidine gluconate solution.

I'm just mentioning it in the off-chance your wife has had any similar problems.

She's tough as a linebacker, reyn. I don't expect a problem there. She has very clean habits and she is not susceptible to a lot of infections and the like. Tough peasant stock, much like myself. Still, we all do have to be careful. Thanks for the information.

Take care, izzy. My wife is raring to go. The only thing slowing her down is that confouded wound and an oversize sling with a cushion behind it.

My wife is doing well. Her wound is very sensitive, but she is trying to get by without any pain medicine. She has taken to wearing a different sling most of the time and it is generally more comfortable.
