g'day wildclickers!
Thanks Dan!
Please call Congress urging them to support a House-passed amendment that would halt taxpayer subsidies for destructive new logging roads in the Tongass -- America's largest temperate rainforest. Over the past 25 years, more than $1 billion has been spent to clearcut and carve roads through the magnificent sanctuary for grizzly bears, salmon and bald eagles. We need to build even more public support for the pro-Tongass, anti-subsidy amendment so that it's included in the final Interior appropriations bill. If you haven't already, please send your message of support via your state's Senators.
Also, as you well know, the destructive fires that plagued So. CA the past
week are a direct path to the wh's stupid 'forest fire prevention' policies. Communities are not protected. Funds once alloated for a top notch forest fire fighting community are funneled to god know where - their ability for fighting fires hampered by beauacracy and washington b.s.
The removal of hazardous materials are crucial for healthy forests.
Not backcountry logging and land sales for industry.
The destruction, loss of lives, homes, wildlife and habitat could have been significantly reduced had California Senators told gwb to take the gold plated chain saw and shove it.
