$127000000000/300,000 displaced = $423,333/person.

End of discussion.

LOL. the Government states Katrina displaced 1.5 million.

Your figure implies that ALL the money went to the 300,000 that were still not back in New Orleans. Something that is patently untrue since MO and Florida both received substantial amounts of money. Plus you ignore the fact that the 127 billion has not been spent and is for Katrina, Wilma and Rita. Rita hit Texas. Katrina hit Florida, Missouri and Louisiana. Wilma hit Florida.

I'm thinking shiksa maybe right, a few years ago I drove near New Orleans on my way home from Florida so after Katrina I put in a claim for rain damage to my RV and promptly got a check for exactly $423,333. I spent ever cent of it on crack.

I'd rather give my tax money to state university systems like the one California used to have. University of California had NO tuition when I went there, pre-Reagan as governor. I wish we could go back to that (pie in the sky), and build more campuses. (I still worked 30 hrs. a week or so, lived at home, took the bus, and so on.)

When did Katrina hit Missouri?
How did it miss Mississippi?

Did Ms and Mo change places on the map?

Instead of a $5000 bond, may it would be better to invest in a good stock.

That is idiotic, with little bit of money to invest, you don't put it in the stock market, perhaps put some (30-40%) of it in a mutual fund like VTSMX or QQQQ.

Each baby born in the US in 2007 owes much more than $5000 in his or her share of the national debt so it's only fair that we give part of that back.

So if we give them 5k that is only a partial payback for the money we have stolen from them.

I take it you have/had a lousy relationship with your parents.

At least I had parents.

BTW I never mentioned whether or not I advocated this idea, I merely state facts that we would only be paying back a portion of the money stolen from them.
