@Roberta,
I love egg creams, I haven't had one in ages. Malted milk shakes were also wonderful, I haven't found a malted anything since Christ was a Corporal.

@ehBeth,
That's a tartaleta de crema or custard tart in English: a pastry filled with the English version of Bavarian cream.

@Walter Hinteler,
We call it an egg custard. It's nothing like a cupcake.

Quote:
Ingredients
For the sweet pastry
165g/5¾oz plain flour, plus extra for dusting
25g/1oz ground almonds
120g/4¼oz chilled unsalted butter, cubed
55g/2oz caster sugar
1 free-range egg

For the custard filling
700ml/1¼ pint full-fat milk
7 free-range egg yolks
90g/3¼oz caster sugar
freshly ground nutmeg

Egg Custard Tarts

The slightly nutty short-crust pastry makes the perfect crumbly case for a rich egg custard topped with nutmeg. Delicious!

I knew that - I had some in Lisbon, and Belem, in June.

But the tarts from Sweet Belem, in Petersham, are the best in Sydney.

I'm smiling. I'm happy. I'm feeling good. No, not a dog visit. Those are on Friday. What could cause this strange turn of events?

The top guy ( head honcho) of my social services agency took me to lunch. My wonderful social worker came along too.

I was excited. And the location was a surprise. I wore a stunning new outfit his organization paid for. I wore shoes I hadn't worn in maybe 15 years. They fit and I could walk. I was late because I had to make serious bling decisions.

When I saw where the taxi was headed, I guessed at where we were going. He said no. He lied. Hey, I'm a Noo Yawker. I know what's where. Over a year ago I mentioned that one of my favorite restaurants is Joe Allen's, a place in Hell's Kitchen (the theater district). And I mentioned in the cab that my two favorite meals there were the La Scala salad and the meatloaf (best I ever ate).

They were both still on the menu! I had the salad. From the menu:

LA SCALA SALAD
iceberg lettuce, chickpeas, red pepper, diced salami and provolone

With Italian dressing. Divine. Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream.

We had a wonderful time. WONDERFUL, I tell ya. And I later learned that I'm the only client that ever got such treatment. Even more thrilled and honored.

I have a doggie bag. Hey, dawgs. No way. This is for me.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
