@Roberta,
We remember these situations. When my husband and I landed in Rome after some 34 hours of flying craziness, we were making our way while exhausted with big fat suitcases at the subway station at the main Rome terminal. My husband, carrying our biggest useless suitcase monstrosity, got it caught in the turnstile to what turned out being the train going in the wrong direction anyway. We were saved by a well dressed business man who not only got us untangled, he also took us to the right subway train, and rode one station's worth to see us off securely.
Solid welcome to a city I would come to love.

So glad that guy helped you, Robbie.

I found a picture of a gorgeous snake. I don't know what it is. Every time I tried to get info on it, I got thrown offline. Can anyone identify it? Is it real? It's a doozy.

Boida, your trek getting home from Bellevue sounds horrendous. Thank heaven the good Samaritan was there or you wouldn't have been able to stand up for days. What an awful time. ((((( Boida ))))).

Don't know what kind of snake that is but it is gorgeous. I'll be looking forward to finding out.

It's good to catch up on how you're doing.

Vonny, I hope you are doing well. I just am too lazy to read back through all the posts I've missed.

@ehBeth,
Thanks for tracking it down, ehBeth. I've never seen anything like it and I've seen lots of garter snakes while camping.

Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed

I posted that snake on the wrong thread. And I thought my post was missing on the beautiful animals thread. Getting senile.

Great to see you, Diane. Couldn't stand up today. Maybe manana.

Thanks, bethie, for the snake tracking.

@Diane,
Hi Diane, I'm healing okay, thank you. Still black and blue, but that's fading - four weeks since op now! Just started gentle massage of the scars twice a day for three minutes - glad to be doing something about it at last!

@Roberta,
Oh my... I'm just now reading your Awful Thursday story. Yes, the rain was fierce for a while. In small-town Texas, they'd call it a "toad strangler."

(Hope that made you laugh!)

My sister and I have this thing we've been perfecting for years. We call it the "Blanche DuBois" routine. You gotta have a Southern accent to pull it off, though. "Ah have always depended on the kindness of strangers..." (flutter eyelashes) It's gotten us out of a lot of sticky situations.

Thank God for Good Samaritans.

Please rest up today. I'm looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. If we need to send a cab for you, we're happy to do that. Really. I mean it.

@Eva,
Eva, I should laugh about a dead amphibian? You got the wrong Roberta.

Although I'm from the south Bronx, I don't think the accent is quite right. And I've never depended on the kindness of strangers. The man on Thursday was a major and wonderful exception. Also, I'm not an eyelash flutterer.

Don't need a cab. And I'm resting like crazy.

Nothing has changed with me. Another tooth is loose. C'est tout.

How's your healing going?

@Roberta,
Healing slow but sure, thank you.

I hope you are better able to walk now? You were having problems after your awful Bellevue ordeal last time you posted. Sorry to hear you have yet another tooth loose - are you in pain with them?

@vonny,
Walking is improved. Tooth did hurt. Now it just feels weird.

Biggest problem is money. Sigh.

Back from Bellevue. Saw the asthma doc. Gotta have a breathing test. I had this test a few years ago. It involved a lot of exhaling into machines. And i nearly passed out. I got the results of the heart test. All is fine.

@Rockhead,
Aw shucks re the heart remark. Embarrassed

And lots of hospital machines are sucky. But this one makes you light headed and woozy. I'm remembering when I slipped off the chair and landed on the floor. And the tech is telling me it's OK. Hey, lady. I'm on the floor.

@Roberta,
You'll tell them about your fainting the last time, right? Ok, I know you will.
