oh yeah

I was nervous suggesting a place to meet the first time you and the Empress and I met.

Nervous? I was terrified.

@ehBeth,
Snorting. (Pifka used to say that)

I was glad to meet where she liked and I bet part of why Roberta picked it was that it was a proto new york city italian joint she enjoyed and she knew my proclivities. See, I see her as reasonable while the rest of the world is tilted. The next place she came up with, Diane in town, was a frenchie place in the theater area, later the arena for another famous a2k meeting that involved an ambulance, but now sadly defunct.

I think all three of us (Roberta, Beth, me) are a tad spongy about doing what we are told. Could be a mental health plus.

Terrified? Of moi? This comment has caused me to reflect on my online persona, which I always thought was a bit tempered by my having the time to think before I write. I guess not. Or how terrifying am I in person?

Osso, Reasonable? Moi? If you say so, kid.

Has anyone heard from vonny? She was supposed to have her stitches out today.

@Roberta,
I thought I'd replied to you yesterday, but I guess I must have been tired and failed to press the 'Reply' button - very strange! Perhaps I accidentally posted it on another thread Exclamation Embarrassed

All seemed to go well at the hospital - a specialist nurse removed the stitches pretty painlessly, and now all I have to do is wait until 16th July for my follow-up appointment. I panicked a bit yesterday when the nurse couldn't tell me whether the results of my op had proved benign or not, but on reflection, if there was anything seriously wrong, surely they'd let my own doctor know and he'd contact me? No use worrying needlessly!

I can't start massaging the scar for four weeks - they say the scar has to strengthen first. So I'm back on the waiting game again! I guess life's like that! But meantime I have a lot of new friends on A2K to chat to, play games with, and generally 'kvetch' to - it's helped me hugely so far - thanks a lot Roberta, and all concerned. Very grateful to everybody!

@Roberta,
Heh heh heh.....you don't terrify me....which is odd since I am something like the Wizard of Oz.....just a scared weird little person with a projector thingy.

To me, you're just a big pussy cat.

@dlowan,
Bunny, Glad I didn't scare you. You may be a wizard and you may be a little weird (to me weird is good), but you don't seem scared to me and you're no little person (in a figurative sense). As for your projector thingy, that's none of my business.

I like being a pussy cat. Thanks.

@vonny,
vonny, That seems like a very long time to wait for biopsy results. Hang on, kid.

@Roberta,
Thank you, Roberta. I appreciate your encouragement. My biggest problem at the moment is being unable to sleep! So tired, but I don't seem capable of getting more than five hours - max!

How are you doing now? You sounded pretty tense the other day!

@vonny,
vonny? Are you any good with naps? If not, I guess you'll be tired until you get more comfortable. Sorry, kid.

Tense? I'm usually tense. Not sure what day you're referring to. It doesn't matter. At the moment I'm tense because I'm expecting another part of my broken tooth to give way. Feh.

I'm always tense about money.

Hope you're sleeping better.

@Roberta,
Bless you, Roberta, you are always so kind and thoughtful. I'll be fine. No good with naps, but I guess it's just a question of letting nature take its course - bound to sleep eventually. Bit tetchy and snappy meantime - can't even have a good cry because I mustn't get the scar wet Rolling Eyes

The tension I referred to was cumulative - health, taxes, work - you have a lot to cope with. So sorry about your tooth - wish to goodness there was a way of finding some free dentistry for you. Bad enough to have pain and discomfort, but awful that you have to worry about finding a way to pay for it too!

Back from Bellevue. Had an echo-cardiogram. A little scary, fascinating beyond fascinating, and ******* magic!!! (Sorry about the f word. I lost control.)

I got to see my own heart beating--from different angles. Beat, beat, beat. A technological marvel. My own heart. Beat, beat, beat.

The tech said that she didn't see anything that would warrant her getting a doctor immediately. So I left. My own doctor will analyze the pictures and let me know what he thinks.

Beat, beat beat. And cute as the dickens in an offal kinda way.

@Roberta,
Sounds fascinating! Glad nothing appeared to be wrong - let's hope your own doctor agrees.

You just had to end on a gag - offal kind of way indeed!!! Good one though! Laughing

@Roberta,
I used to do ekg's, known now as ecg's, back when I was general run around help in an internist's office, after school. (My first one was on a nun - I thought I just might die myself, in the process.) Anyway, even looking at the paper tape rolling out was amazing.

What an experience, Robbie.

This was a major experience. Not cute in a puppy sort of way. I had to come up with something. I'm just awful and incorrigible.

I was watching my heart beating, and I felt many things. Awe that it just keeps pumping. Also awe that I could see it. And here comes the wierd part. I felt love for that beating organ. LOVE. I love that it's beat, beat, beating. Love that it's behaving itself and keeping me going. Love at the magic of nature. Most living things have hearts that beat, beat, beat. (When I got up from the table, I wanted to blow it a kiss. I resisted.)

We all have a lot of organs. This one is constantly moving. For an entire lifetime. I'm grateful I got to see my heart and say hello, so to speak.

I got to see it. WOW.

@Roberta,
I don't know if I could share your enthusiasm if I were to see my heart! Jolly glad it's still working, but not 'offally keen' (that joke keeps on and on) on seeing it do so!

Still, it's my birthday tomorrow - glad to reach another one - perhaps I should sing a rousing chorus of 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR HEART'? Laughing Rolling Eyes Cool

I have an appointment on Thursday to get my eyes checked. Just finished poking around online. Medicare does not cover eyeglasses.

So the exam will be an exercise in futility, but I'm going anyway.

Sighing in the Big Apple.
