Surgery--Again

Deb, I still have a lot of teeth, but fewer than I had the last time. And the teeth issue was not related to the biopsy. It was related to the tumor removal. I'm staggered that you remembered that tidbit. What a bunny.

I have work to do.

Maybe I'll hear from that lady tomorrow.

I was worried that they might interfere with the biopsy?

And it was a big deal! it's why you couldn't have the bloody thing removed surgically!

For reasons I don't know, they can do the biopsy without my teeth getting in the way. My teeth were a problem with the surgery. They wanted to perform the surgery without cutting my throat open. They couldn't reach the tumor.

I really, really don't want more radiation on my throat. The side effects are devastating. Gonna try not to think about it until I know whether the cancer is back or not.

Bethie, Is that soup or a stew? It doesn't look like the chicken soup I know and love. I could use some right about now.

Called Bellevue to try to get things straightened out. Got connected to ENT. No answer.

Called HH (hated hospital) to try to get things straightened out. Got connected to admitting. No answer.

Looks like I'm gonna have to schlep to one place or the other to get things resolved. I'll wait until the weather clears up.

You need a biopsy....they should be calling you! But you know that.

What can I tell ya? They were in such a hurry for the biopsy that they scheduled the meeting on Chritmas eve, just to move things along.

Dealing with one public hospital is a challenge. Dealing with two is impossible.

Not impossible. It took some persistence, but I reached the woman at the hated hospital. She got the clearance, but she's been too busy to let me know. Sigh.

I gotta to back to get some papers and see a nurse. Then I guess they'll schedule the biopsy. Unless the nurse loses me along the way.

Do you know when that can happen? How is the weather?

I'm going back to the HH on Monday. The weather has been ooky, but it should be better by tomorrow.

I just got a call from a doctor at Bellevue. The biopsy is scheduled for January 17. I couldn't do it sooner. I have work commitments.

I managed to wrangle from him the inside ENT phone number. A small victory.

Throwing this in. I spent a considerable amount of time on the phone trying to get things straightened out. I can't speak for everyone, but for me doing something I don't want to do takes a lot of energy. No, I didn't want to straighten things out because I don't want the biopsy because I don't want the cancer.

Now I'm pooped.

I'm feeling eh plus, which for me ain't bad. Tense is nothing new. Sleeping is eh (no plus).

I called back the doctor (gone) to remind them that I have COPD and that anesthesia can have a very bad effect on me. I left a message.

Despite being exhausted and having to deal with all this stuff, I sheepishly admit to a certain pleasure in being a pain in the ass.

I hope it just turns out to be a technician's smudgy fingerprint on the xrays. Our thoughts and hoper beams will be directed your way for the next couple of months at the least.
