Surgery--Again

An aside: Last week in art therapy I drew a picture of water. I added a fish to indicate life.

I was looking through some papers. Found some cards I made for my parents about thirty or forty years ago. On one of the cards I drew some water. In it was a fish (almost identical to the recent one.) You gotta admit I'm consistent.

Oh my!

Next week I'm seeing the neurologists for the results of the MRI on my brain.

Nervous wreck doesn't cut it. Terrified does.

I'll send some positive vibes your way too. I already know that there is going to be good news for you.

How are things going otherwise? Are you getting some leg strength back?

I finished my swallow training and am now in the program. Not crazy about it--don't like electrodes stuck on my neck. But if it helps, I'll do it.

What day is it?

Monday. It will be a long weekend. Got a lot of work to catch up on. I'll focus on that--or try to.

Sigh. I'm trying to be sane about this since I don't know what the results of the test are. I'm not starting from the sanest of places. Trying to be reasonable. My mind races. If nothing shows upon the test, then what's wrong--because something is. And what if something does show up on the test? What then?

Aaaaaargh. Stop thinking, Roberta, and go do some work. (Don't tell the people I work for that I said that.)

The stress of waiting is incredibly difficult. I hope the weekend flies by and Monday comes in a flash.

Dinner out sounds good. I'm sure your dinner partner is happy to give your a ear/shoulder to dump on. And if happy isn't the right word then tough bananas. Dump anyway.

Back from Bellevue. I saw the neurologist who told me that the MRI looks exactly like the last one. No change. However, she also told me that she was the wrong doctor to evaluate an MRI and that I have to see a neurosurgeon. She managed to get me an appointment for tomorrow, so I don't have to wait too much longer.

We discussed my symptoms. She's arranging for me to have a cognitive neurological test. This will be the second one, which is a good thing because they'll have something to compare the new one to.

I'm exhausted but not sleepy. I've been up at least 24 hours.

The appointment tomorrow is at 9:30 a.m. Insert dirty words of your choosing.

Then I have to go back to Bellevue on Thursday to see the endocrinologist. More aggravation. I had blood tests to see the endo, but the appointment was pushed back two months. I went to get the blood tests again. Can't get them without authorization. Tried to get it today, but all the endo docs were gone.

Weary and snarling. Snearyling.

good re no changes in MRI - even better that you only have to wait until tomorrow to see the neurosurgeon.

Do try and get some sleep Boida... I know it's difficult when you're worrying and... just plain not sleeping... but try and rest some now OK, please.

love you Goil - please try and rest a little - especially with some cognitive tests on the morrow if they do them then - gotta show 'em how smart you are... bagsy for the animal questions.
