Lovely tea party. Delicious looking goodies.

Wish I could make an upbeat report. Not yet.

The pain in my throat, ear, and mouth continues. And no vocal sounds are forthcoming, although I continue to snort/growl involuntarily.

And I've taken a backward step in the food department. Dry mouth is a side effect of radiation to your mouth/neck area. I was not hit with it right away. But it's come on very strongly. I can no longer swallow solids without drinking water to help get things down. Things get stuck anyway. Eating is now something I dread.

I'll be making some chicken soup tomorrow. Yup, back to soup, Jell-o, chocolate pudding, apple sauce, and pureed veggies. Couldn't get down pasta tonight.

I was reluctant to report. This has gone on a very long time. Sigh.

I went to a cancer support group on Thursday. A disaster. Three cancer patients and the group leader. I was very willing and eager to share my feelings and experiences. The man was not. He fussed with papers the whole time. The woman found great comfort in God. She asked me if I believed. I said no. She said, "Well, there you go." I did not explode immediately. But I did explode in my whispery way. Told the group I was very angry and how dare she judge me. Didn't say anything nasty, like, Hey lady. You've got cancer too, so there you go.

Trying to think of something positive to say. And I've got something. The tumor is still gone.

Hubby had radiation to his neck, too, and he has dry mouth. He carries a water bottle with him everywhere. People assume he's being fashionable. He doesn't correct them. Wink

****, Roberta, you don't need this sort of crap at cancer support group!!!!!!! Good grief! Evil or Very Mad

Sorry to hear about your step backwards in the food department. Sigh.

In the meantime, I hope it's a really, really delicious chicken soup you made!

Hey, I didn't mean to put a damper on the tea party. Just because I can't eat the goodies doesn't mean that I can't sit and schmooze. After all, this is writing, not talking. My fingers still work.

Saw a wonderful hazel nut/chocolate concoction on one of Lidia Bastianich's shows. Looked positively divine. Slurp.

@Roberta,
Hey boida, Ive beaten cancer, gettin blowd up, shot several times, heart disease and a really evil wife and all without the help of imaginary father figures. Tell your Jesus lady to **** off .
Its positive thoughts coupled with milestones attained that helps most. Just set little steps and make em .
That was a lesson I had from an old mil doctor who was treating my melanoma 30 years ago.

Baby steps. I'll try to hold that in my head. I tend to be a very impatient person, which has been an additional problem. Baby steps. Drumming it into my brain.

YOU WERE SHOT!! Shocked Blown up, well, ok. But shot? Glad you're breathing in both directions, kid.

This is where having a large dog came in mighty handy when the Jehovah's Witnesses used to come around. They don't any more. Twisted Evil

Oh hey there JoeN, you got any stories to tell us....... once upon a time ".... Wabbit, sit still and quit making faces at the Boid! Wink

@Izzie,
Would love a tea party, even though I'll have to pass on the tea and all the edibles for now--except apple sauce.

There will be no sitting and waiting, Izzie. I have to be checked once a month for the next four years. Thud.

I'll be happy to pass that gooey-looking whatever to whoever wants it. Any takers?

@Izzie,
I'm startled, I have failed to look up that elegant french chocolate cake that I was mumbling about for Diane's birthday.
Stay tuned.

@Roberta,
Mad Hatters Tea Party - love it!

http://www.ci.springfield.or.us/Museum/Mad%20Hatter%20Tea%20Party.jpg

monthly check-ups.... yep, it's a pain.... but....you know that if anything turned up - then, they'd know about it sooner rather than later. I have monthly blood tests (which I am notoriously bad at having monthly) - and tho I can't bear needles - I think that pretty much if anything showed up for whatever reason - it'd be better to know, than not.

Easy to say, I know...... but yeah.... thud!

Hugs gal x

Thanks for the sauce Iz.

So I'm watching Lidia Bastianich make a Sacher torte. Eggs, flour, sugar, chocolate, mix. Bake. Apricot this, apricot that. Ice the cake.

I'll have one of them--eventually. But you guys can have one now. Enjoy! Slurp.

@Roberta,
ONG! I just made Sachertorte yesterday! How weird is that. I'd never had it before, but I made it for my Austiran dil's birthday. Wonderful! We gave them the rest to take home or I would have eaten it all.

@Swimpy,
A friend from Austria sent me one from the Hotel Sacher. To die for, but I managed to eat it and survive. It arrived in a lovely wooden box, which I use for clips and things. A torte that keeps on giving.

@Roberta,
Lidia Bastianich - now there's a book I'd like. Well, she has probably written more than one. (I'm supposed to be getting rid of books..
