New York City schools do, or at least they are supposed to. The city, under Rudy Guiliani, had to file a lawsuit to get the then Republican governor Pataki to release funds that had already been authorized through the legislature.

The suit took eleven years to complete. We are supposed to start receiving the monies this fall.

Well, I goofed. I searched for "Signing Bonus" in Goggle in an attempt to find an article recently published about school districts offering bonuses to new teachers. (In NYC, some are offered an $5000.oo to be used as a housing down payment.)

I found it and an article about a high school baseball player:

Big news about teacher's signing bonuses: Some districts are offering as much a $10,000.oo

Oh, and the kid, who was 27th in the draft, will get a signing bonus of 1.17 million smackers.

My view
Teachers
are social workers to shape the world
and not CEOs or Compurter Bill Gates
nor the half backed potatoes
like our politicians around the globe.
I hope those who are engaged like lowpaid teachers are billion times better than any xis job-holders

We are the oddest creatures aren't we?

We humans will stand in line to watch other humans whose talent is to speak the words that some other human wrote and speak them convincingly.
I am speaking of actresses, but I might as well be speaking about politicians.
When they speak, actresses do not know the real meaning of what they are saying. Hey, I still might be speaking of politicians, but I was thinking about this tonight as some one of those "What's Going On In The Pathetic Lives of The Supposedly Fabulous?" programs floated by on the television in the other room.

I caught a glimpse of some very unhappy multimillionaire with huge lips and eyes.

A teacher must frame knowledge in words that the students will understand. She or he must edit, translate, reword as the lesson goes forward mixing the information with whatever words it will take to put the knowledge into the minds of the students
