Many more would have got away with it.

The problem with power is that it attracts the very sort of people who should never be allowed to have it.

Well, I haven't been keeping a list, but I do recall Mel Reynolds and Gerry Studds getting it on with the young'ns. Also, Congressman Fred Richmond of New York was arrested in 1978 for soliciting a 16-year-old boy but won re-election nevertheless. He was, however, forced to resign his seat four years later after pleading guilty to marijuana possession and tax evasion. Obviously, Congressman Richmond had a wide variety of extra-political interests.

Google results:

Republicans convicted of pedophilia: 95,100

Democrats convicted of pedophilia: 86,400

Some don't understand Google or other search engine algorithms.

They are not survey statistics, or examination of public records, or any reasonable result to draw any conclusions.

Here's one result buried deeply in the Democrats search:

References cont. (65) -- Clergy Child Molesters
Convicted priest resigns after being placed on leave [1970s] ...... SANTA ROSA (CA) The Press Democrat, "Some upset diocese won't ID priests," ...
www.multiline.com.au/~johnm/ethics/ethcont65.htm - 356k - Cached - Similar pages - Note this

The "Democrat" is a newspaper. May be it's actually The Democrat Pedophilia Press Times. Very Happy

I know you were.

Until we see a comprehensive list of Democratic politicians who have been caught and prosecuted as pedophiles, we will never know if this is some kind of ego-driven character flaw in the Republican mindset or conservative mindset -- pick which one suits you. Barney Franks is a bad example -- that censure would never happen today as the transgression involved consenting adults. That is, unless a Senator openly screws another Senator on the floor of the Senate.

Like that's never happened. Very Happy

It's very sad not to see too many people condemning these filthy republicans. It makes me wonder sometimes, if this is the norm or acceptable attitudes in America and here on AK2. Mad

I don't like republicans, they seem greedy to me.

When I typed those things that I did into the google search box, I was quite convinced the results would be the exact opposite.

Hey, we had a president accused of rape, and what else, took advantage of a barely of age helpless intern less than half his age, and the entire Democratic Party establishment looked the other way, and to this day, does not care, and his enabling wife is now the Democratic front runner.

So Zippo, why don't you go find another issue that might have a little more credibility for your side.

Okie, your defense and dismissal of Zippo's thread topic is one person, Bill Clinton? I would not consider Monica a helpless intern.

The rape was just that -- an unprovable accusation. Comparing Monica to pedophilia is a looney rationalization that is without peer. While you're scraping the bottom of the barrel, make sure you dispose of the wood chips.

I agree preying on children is worse than almost anything, however I still find it absolutely incredible that you guys defended a sexual predator in the Whitehouse.

And you should know that pedophilia cuts across party lines.

So where's your list? Would anyone even attempt it for fear they can't come up with even half the names?

Bill and Monica were consenting adults.

From a Web blog where they had searched for Democrats who were convicted of pedophilia and came up empty handed:

Sadie Baker said...

This is not unrelated.

Pedophilia is a natural by-product of patriarchism. Patriarchism is the belief that the rights of the powerful over the powerless should be without limits, whether in the public square or behind closed doors.

The Republican Party is the Party of Patriarchism, so this kind of co-relation should not come as a surprise to anyone.

Exactly. They won't be able to find a list, because there isn't one. Funny how most Repugs are keeping away from this thread. (they don't even have the balls to condemn their friends) Mad

Or maybe Republicans have better things to do than to scour local news sources looking for democrats who have been caught. In a quick glance, most of the names on the list are local politicians/officeholders. Someone seems to have way too much time on their hands if they think putting this list together really proves anything at all. I for one have no desire to spend time doing so. I don't know whether repubs or dems assualt children in greater numbers, and frankly I don't care. As long as they are put away where they cannot do it again, I am happy.

I think the belief that one party is predisposed to molesting kids is a bunch of crock. But then that is my opinion.

Amen to all of that, Coastal Rat. I am quite confident a sizeable list of Democrats could be compiled, but most of us have something better to do than that.
