S.Amdt. 4748 -the Dem version - allows the Attorney General to BAN anyone on any FBI terrorist watch list from purchasing a gun. If you were denied you'd have to challenge it in court.

In short, the GOP bills were toothless, feckless odes to the NRA that did nothing and attempted nothing.

That's silly. The fact that the government would be required to convince a judge BEFORE someone's rights were limited doesn't make the law toothless.

Let's make it so no one on the watch list is allowed to criticize Republicans and then put a bunch of Democrats on it. There would be no Free Speech violation because each Democrat on the list would have the theoretical ability to pay tens of thousands of dollars in lawyers fees to challenge their inclusion on the list, right?

Let's make it so no one on the watch list can get an abortion and then put a bunch of women on it. There would be no violation of abortion rights because each woman on the list would have the theoretical ability to pay tens of thousands of dollars in lawyers fees to challenge their inclusion on the list, right?

The NRA is going to protect America from the Democrats, and there is nothing that the Democrats can do about it.

@TheCobbler,
What can you even say to someone like Baldimo? Whatever you say, everything morphs into either any gun for anyone all the time, or oppressive government coming to take your guns and rights!!! No nuances, no reasoning, just red, white and yah-hoo.

@snood,
I agree that talking is pointless. Liberals must simply be defeated and then shipped off to cells at Guantanamo for the good of the American people.

You're now talking like the 'crazy' Trump. First off, Gitmo is not big enough.

We can expand the facility there, and also increase the number of cells by decreasing cell size.

@snood,
It will take a crisis before the right realizes they have gone too far with guns and religion and this may drive America further from the "Great" America they are "envisioning".

Where witches are burned and puritanical interpretations of an insane book are held up as moral.

I envision an America with the greatest diversity and the greatest unity of any country on the face of the earth.

I certainly don't envision some homogenized place with slaves and redneck shotgun weddings.

Why cats aren't Republican
https://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/10/27/1339526/-Why-cats-aren-t-Republican

Living with a cat for the first time, you quickly pick up on its behavioral quirks, many of which are common among other cats. What you soon find out is that cats aren't Republican. Here are 12 reasons why not:

1. Cats are curious about what you do in your bedroom, but they don't try to legislate away your freedom to do it.

2. Cats may take away your cushion, but they'll give it back to you with a gentle push.

3. Cats give you attention and sympathy when you're sick.

4. Females are treated with importance in the cat world.

5. Cats make use of solar power, often all day long.

6. Cats lick their own problems and take care of other cats too.

7. Cats don't blame black and brown cats for their troubles.

8. Cats know how to ration their resources.

9. Fat cats are not at the top of the cat hierarchy, are not cat role models, and have more trouble surviving and thriving, not less.

10. While Republicans blindly follow authority, it is said that getting Democrats to act in unison is like herding cats.

11. Cats don't foul their own nest.

12. Cats are popular and well-liked on the Internet and elsewhere.

The Shaming of Paul Ryan Is Now Complete

I do not think that folks like Paul Ryan feel shame.

 The Shaming of Paul Ryan Is Now Complete

From silencing debate on guns to backing “textbook-racist” Trump, the GOP “leader” always puts partisanship above principle.

Paul Ryan on Gun Control

The New York Daily News has a way of settling issues with front-page headlines. And the feisty tabloid’s headline on the morning after Speaker Paul Ryan shut down the House rather than allow a debate on gun-violence legislation settled it for Ryan.

A picture of the speaker appeared next to a headline “NRA’s Li’l Lapdog.” Perched on Ryan’s shoulder was the chief apologist for the gun industry, National Rifle Association taskmaster Wayne LaPierre, screeching “Heel, Paul, heel. Good boy!” A smaller headline ridiculed Ryan for claiming that he was upholding the Constitution when, in fact, the Wisconsin Republican was doing the bidding of the gun interests that have so consistently and generously funded his campaigns when he adjourned the House in the early hours of June 23.

As the overwhelming majority of Democrats and some Republicans step up to acknowledge—following the June 12 massacre in Orlando—that something must be done to address gun violence in America, the newspaper’s front page asked, “What does Speaker Ryan do?”

Now that he is at the top of the political ladder, Paul Ryan is revealed as nothing more than a cynical careerist.

The answer: “Rolls over, again.”
...................

Yet, now that he is at the top of the ladder, Ryan is revealed as nothing more than a cynical careerist, with no political courage and no clues about how to wield the power he has attained for any purpose other than rewarding his corporate benefactors. ......................

It is amazing how Liberals hate our Constitution just as much as the 9/11 hijackers hated our Constitution.
