@parados,
Unless democrats get enough votes to be able to control both the house and the senate, it really makes no difference if we hold on to the senate or not as republicans have made it their be all agenda to block anything democrats or Obama puts forward. Even if republicans get the senate, they won't be able to pass anything with Obama in the house and I don't believe they have a chance to win a presidential election, so we are all looking at more unproductive years.

@parados,

Describes the joke 9-11 Commission and the bigger joke NIST "Inquiry", doesn't it, parados?

Five GOP senators put unemployment aid pressure where it belongs: On John Boehner

by Laura Clawson

The five Republican senators involved in working out the Senate's plan to extend emergency unemployment aid do not seem intimidated by House Speaker John Boehner's repeated trashing of the plan. For instance:

“There’s a lot of things that the speaker doesn’t like that we do over here,” said Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska). “What we have out there is a fair proposal.”

“It’s a good compromise that takes care of people who are running out of their checks and does it in a way that is paid for appropriately,” said Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.).

“There’s a concern out there about implementation, I understand that. But it’s been done before, and we’re eager to hear ideas as to how it could be implemented more effectively,” said Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio).

As long as these Republicans and all the Democrats hold firm, the pressure is squarely on Boehner to explain why he's not even allowing a vote on a bill with bipartisan Senate support, or seeking fixes to technical concerns about the bill rather than using them as an excuse to block it entirely. Millions of jobless Americans and their families are waiting.

This is an example of how Tea-stupidity screws your arguments up. Ronald Reagan introduced the ******* "Obama phones", you idiot. Not a damn thing wrong with getting voters to the polls, either.

@parados,
We outnumber the Teabillies and the Teapublicans. They turn out the same core number on or off year election. Here in Texas Perry won his landslide re-election victory with 11% of the eligible vote. Its hard to fight against the tightening of qualifications to voting when 75% of us do not vote. Most of that 75% need their interests looked after by Progressives, not Tea Whatevers.

Minimum Wage Boost Wins Senate And House Approval
Source: The Hartford Courant

HARTFORD — The state's minimum wage will increase to $10.10 per hour by 2017 under a controversial bill approved Wednesday by both the state Senate and the House of Representatives on largely party line votes.

The Senate passed the measure by 21 to 14, with all Republicans and one Democrat — Sen. Joan Hartley of Waterbury — voting no. One senator was absent.

The House vote was 87 to 54, and all 87 supporters were Democrats. Four House Democrats, including Representatives John Hampton of Simsbury and Joe Diminico of Manchester, joined with Republicans against the measure.

Finally glad the Democrats had the guts to raise the minimum wage. They almost did it two years ago, but chickened out.

Republican Sex Scandals,just the sex scandal list!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RepublicanSex scandals list.

Politics and sex scandals have made their way into both the Democratic Party and Republican Party. Regardless of whether or not it's election time, Republican sex scandals have consistently popped up. From Political John conservative to liberal adulterers, the two parties are pretty even in terms of sex scandals since 1976. Democrats have edged ahead in recent years. The Republican party led the way in the '80s and '90s with their multitude of sex scandals. Republicans are often conservative and publicly preach abstinence, so this makes it even more entertaining when they are involved in extramarital affairs. This politician list is full of dirty sex scandals. See the Democratic list for the other side of the aisle. After you read this Republican sex scandal list, leave a comment or share it with a friend.

Calif. gov candidate Donnelly (R) admits past larceny conviction, calls it a 'prank'
Source: Sacramento Bee

Republican gubernatorial candidate Tim Donnelly, who previously denied having any criminal record before carrying a gun into an airport in 2012, was convicted of larceny in Michigan in 1985, The Bee has learned.

The candidate's conviction, which carried three years of probation and a $200 fine, came at the end of Donnelly's freshman year at University of Michigan. He left the school, moved to California and enrolled at University of California, Irvine, that fall.

Donnelly, asked earlier this month about any criminal record in Michigan, where he grew up, or any other state, said he had never been convicted of a crime before the incident at the airport two years ago.

... Donnelly, asked by The Bee earlier Wednesday about the incident, called into the conservative "John and Ken" show in Los Angeles to pre-empt the report. He told the radio hosts the incident was an insignificant "prank" that happened years ago.

Guess which states are most dependent on the federal gubmint?

(HuffPost) If we learned nothing else during the 2012 election, it is that some of us are makers, hard-working folk solely responsible for America's prosperity, and others are takers, who want the federal government to pay for luxuries like food and health care.

What may come as some surprise is where these two warring tribes tend to live. The states with elected officials most likely to espouse anti-taker sentiments -- i.e., Republican-dominated states -- are the most dependent on federal spending, while returning the least to Washington in the way of tax dollars.

That's according to the consumer finance site Wallet Hub, which crunched federal tax and spending data and then ranked states from most to least dependent on Uncle Sam. In the map below, green states are the least dependent, while red states -- appropriately -- are the most dependent.

The "makingest" state, according to the analysis, is Delaware. Delawareans -- this is really what they call themselves -- pay $1 in taxes for every 50 cents they get back from the federal government. Delaware also has the lowest rate of federal contracts received, as a proportion of federal tax dollars paid. And the state has the highest gross domestic product per capita, at $72,642.

The "takingest" states, in a tie, are Mississippi and New Mexico, according to the analysis. Both states take about $3 in federal spending for every $1 contributed in taxes. Both states are highly dependent on federal funding as a percentage of state revenue. And New Mexico, especially, has lots of federal workers.

The state with the lowest return on taxpayer investment is South Carolina. Its citizens pay $1 in taxes per capita for every $7.87 in federal funding received.

The two states that come closest to breaking even are Washington and Georgia. These states get back $1.05 for every $1 in taxes paid.

Wallet Hub tabulated its results using three metrics: taxes paid as compared to federal spending per capita, what percentage of state revenue comes from federal dollars, and the number of federal employees per capita. The first two categories were given more weight than the third.

While the rankings are obviously somewhat arbitrary -- one would get different results using different metrics -- they do broadly correspond to patterns of poverty. States like Mississippi and Alabama, which are hugely dependent on federal tax dollars to help feed, clothe and shelter their citizens, are among those with the largest deficits, in terms of what they get in federal help versus what they give back in tax dollars.

For most of American history, bringing home the federal pork, in extra benefits for citizens or spending projects, was a badge of honor for elected officials. The rise of the Tea Party has changed this calculus. Now in the most conservative states it is seen as a political boon to turn down federal handouts. In essence, they are trying to become less taker-y.

The most obvious evidence of this trend can be seen in the expansion of Medicaid, the health plan for the poor, under the Affordable Care Act. Of the 10 states with the biggest dependency gap, as determined by Wallet Hub, seven -- Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Maine, Montana, South Dakota and Tennessee -- have decided not to expand their Medicaid programs, even though the funding would come from federal coffers.

@bobsal u1553115,
Sorry, nothing tops a blowjob in the Oval office for total disrespect for this country, and the office of the president. Obama and his outright lies and tearing down of this country are a close second.
