And with the world falling apart the lack of honesty and compassion of this administration call a lot of motives into question.

Neither can I, Revelette...but with people like this coldjoint explaining (by example)...it is becoming more and more apparent.

They are certifiable.

@revelette2,
It has to do with the individual's perception and belief system. Once they commit to the idea, it's their reality and faith that they're in the right party.

It's somewhat similar to religion; once they commit to it, nothing (most things) will change their minds.

What I find fascinating about American politics is how the party politics have shifted in their primary goals since the time of Lincoln.

The bigotry of the GOP today has no resemblance to the republicanism of Lincoln. One of the major efforts of the GOP of today is to disenfranchise minority voters, take away control of women's bodies and health clinics, and use fear to win votes. The GOP administrations have created bigger national debt than the democrats, and they're supposed to be fiscal conservatives.

All they do today is vote NO on everything; and won the title of the least productive congress in history.

Lincoln is rolling in his grave.

Right. And the really ironic part of all this is that they have become the power in the Deep South where is the largest proportion of black voters and where once, among the whites, they were anathema because of the Lincoln connection. Now, both black and white Southerners seems to have been taken in.

@Lustig Andrei,
It must be very frustrating for the GOP: a) they tried 54 times to destroy ACA without going anywhere, b) they tried to destroy our economy, but it's been growing at the best rate in the whole world, c) they tried to legislate against gay and lesbian marriage, but the SCOTUS overturned most of them, d) they tried to scare the American people with ebola, but there's been no wide-spread incidence anywhere in the US, and finally on e) voter ID laws established by GOP led states
Quote:
A conservative judge's devastating take on why voter ID laws are evil

We all know who is evil here, don't we?

a) The party that tries to take away affordable health insurance from our
people
b) The party that wouldn't approve the debt ceiling that cost our economy $54 billion 1) they won't approve any mimimum wage increase, 2) they won't approve equal pay for women, and 3) they wouldn't approve job creating legislation
c) Same sex marriage is now approved in 32 states - and growing
d) Chris Christi in New Jersey won't allow an RN who served to help ebola patients to travel freely
e) Voter ID laws have been declared unconstitutional

@revelette2,
Well ..... I am a Republican. It really pisses me off that so many who call themselves Republican wouldn't know a Republican principle if it bit them on their asses. Being conservative is not synonymous with being a Republican. Afordable healthcare is not a Republican/Democratic issue (may be a conservative/liberal one), how it is achieved is GOP/Dem issue: ACA is a Republican response, single payer is a Democratic response. Even though I am Republican, I prefer singlepayer because ACA puts too much money in the hands of private companies. But I support ACA until we go to a single payer. There are tons of empathy deficient individuals out there. Teapublicans and teabillies, mainly.

I am a Republican out of concern for my own PERSONAL FREEDOM and Individualism.
The Democrats are the party of authoritarianism, repression & collectivism.
I am not going to vote for coerced, extorted, compulsory compassion.

My philosophy is as close to that of the Sons of Liberty as possible.
LIBERTY from government interference is what real Republicans care about.

Compassion is a private matter that I attend to privately,
in giving away cash freely in the manner that I choose.

@OmSigDAVID,
Because I believe that individual rights trump the dictatorship of a majority. I believe in state's rights. Because I think Teapublicans are fascists, that teabillies are Brownshirts.
