I got a tatoo today!

Can you beat that.

67 years old and I got my first tatoo today.

A big bald eagle -- wings outstretched.

On my right calf.

Looks great.

Can't wait to get the bandages off so I can show it off.

My wife put one of those decal tatoos on my calf a few weeks back -- and it lasted in good shape for over a week, despite daily stays in the hot tub and a couple of trips down the shore.

I liked it so much, I decided to go for the real thing.

Just wanted to tell everyone!

Who else has got a tatoo?

Very cool...the tattoo I want is very intricate and over 1200.00 over three sessions...so I may have to wait awhile...but I am pierced in several places and am getting ready to do my lip...squinney hates all of it but loves me and knows better than to try and stop me......welcome to the club of middle aged men who still act like teenagers...it's exclusive...it's fun....it's cheaper than a red Porsche and less of a pain in the ass than a 22 year old blonde..... Very Happy  Cool

Quote:
HISTORY
The Prince Albert piercing is named after Prince Albert who was the husband of Queen Victoria of England. He was reputeded to have had this piercing done prior to his marriage to the queen around 1825, at that time Beau Brummel started the craze for ultra tight mens trousers. Because the pants were so tight, the penis needed to be held to one side or the other so as not to create an unsightly bulge. To accomplish this some men had their penis pierced to allow it to be held by a hook on the inside of the trousers, this piercing was called a "Dressing Ring" at the time because tailors would ask if a gentleman dressed to the left or the right and tailor the trousers accordingly, tailors to this day will ask if you dress to the left or right.

I got my first tat just a month ago in Austin to commemorate a great event with my youngest son and also a particular time in my life I'll always hold dear. The place that did it had saran wrap placed over the tat and held in place for only 6 hours. That let the partying street folks see what I'd gotten and that was nice to be able to see it right away. Took about a week to "calm down" from the reddened glow, but now at the month mark it looks exactly as I pictured it and more delicate as intended. It's an open starburst, a bit like a compass rose - and on my lower right leg so as to be seen by anyone who really looks at me, not a passing glance. I agree with others that commented here - I will be back for others in the future!

Wow!

Thanks everyone who has responded so far.

I happen to be one of those people who heal almost instantly -- so although the tat was done late yesterday afternoon, I have the bandage off and it looks like it has been there for months.

I'll take a picture of it ASAP and try to upload it -- although I know that I'll need help with the upload.

The tat is of an eagle with wings spread. Great detail in all the feathers -- beautiful coloring -- and terrific artistry. I can see why these things are addictive.

The outline, of course, is black -- the feathers are brown -- beak is yellow. The eye has a dot in it!!! The head and tail are white (it is a bald eagle.)

I left it exposed on the golf course this morning -- although I made sure it didn't get direct sunlight (per instructions.)

I love it!

I'll get the picture within a few days.

Waiting for that pic, Frank. And I wanna see everyone else's too! Unless they're not appropriate for a 13+ site. Shocked

BiPolar - it wasn't too horrid to have my foot done, though the shop owner and artist both warned me that it is the worst place (in terms of pain) for a tattoo. I've got a 30 year history of getting needles for medical reasons so I wasn't too fussed. The next woman they had in for a foot tattoo left in tears, without a complete tattoo. Definitely not for someone with a low pain threshold.

Frank, not only should you keep it out of direct sunlight, you should put sun block on it for a while at least...got a friend who has a rose on her wrist, sun worshipper....you cant even make out what it is now...scary!
Lovely to see and hear about everyones experiences, and glad to know Im not alone in the I want more section also ... tattoos anonymous we need...really.
I had the lower spine thing..and I tell ya..its not for the faint of heart boy...but, after that the filling in was like swatting a fly troublesome feeling.I have a needle thing myself though so, could be that in combination with the area. The foot I would think would be probably more painful.

I'm careful about the sun -- but I do play golf every day. I'm being careful to keep that side shaded -- and here in New Jersey, big sunshine only lasts two months.

I'll get that picture soon.

I'm sure we'd all love to see yours, Montana.
