This actually applies to anyone that has a shake roof where people will be lighting off fireworks today and
tonight. The fire department is recommending you hose your roof down today.
It has been extremely dry and there are a lot of houses with shake roofs which are a fire waiting to happen.
Even though it is illegal to have the bottle rockets where I am, those and others fireworks are the cause of many house fires.
If it is dry where you are at and there is any possibility of fireworks in the area, hose your roof down. Tile should be
okay but if in doubt just hose your roof to be on the safe side.
They are no longer allowed to use that type of roofing here. There are probably some older roofs like that. Not sure. I haven't seen any of late.
Houses here are still being built with those roofs. I can't imagine why someone would want that. The UPSCALE neighborhood by where I live has those roofs.
It is much the same as dumping kerosene on a fire, this use of shake roofing.
You're kidding. It's like roofing your house with tinder.

Post Nucular War?
It has rained here almost every day for the last month. No fireworks tonight.

I agree, but to have a 1/2 million dollar house and then use shake for a roof? I don't get it. I replaced my
roof in 2003 and went with a colored shingle 50 year roof. I like the way it looks.
The people in our neck of the woods were fond of saying they had to have shakes, for the looks. It's all hype and wishful thinking.
