As of this Monday, M's been using full sentences for a few things. In both Hindi and English. It's just awesome to see/hear. The ones she uses most are actually the ones that I say/have said to her most often - "M's daycare is here;" "Let's go for a walk;" "M would like some strawberries/milk/cinnamon bread;" etc. Really drives home the importance of constantly talking to her. Constantly repeating words, putting words to actions, etc.
She has her 2 year well-visit today. I always think of them as Report Card days for me (How well have you looked after your child?!).
M, sitting in B's lap, head cradled on his chest, caresses his hair and says: "Such a pretty daddy."
There's quite a baby and daddy lovefest going on, here in B's tiny studio sublet.
Awwwwwwwww...
That's incredibly sweet.
Good. Daddy needs some nuclear family action.
Heh. True, Noddy.
M's getting more verbal by the day, it seems. And she's quick to cross-apply various learned concepts. One of her new favorite books is the Vewy Hungry Caterpillar. (Also the Inna wocket Inna pocket: Dr. Soos Booko digulus rhymes.) She likes to 'read' the sentences on each page.
Last night, she fought against being put to bed and tried to flatter daddy into reading to her one more time, one more book: "Big daddy. Biiiiig faaat daddy!" (The very hungry caterpillar ate all kinds of junk food and became a big, fat caterpillar. However, B is a little...ummm....does have a slight food problem.)
All parent-child interaction is educational for someone.
