dragging the 'whole' house forward
is that Mo's balcony?
can you replace some windows and keep some - perhaps those on the staircase landing or any that are unusual, don't need to be open all the time etc...? that could be a compromise...
i'd imagine you should be able to get very nice wooden replacement windows that won't look like a fist punch in the eye (slovakism?)
Quote:Hey dag -- I don't think the house is very far from littlek's sisters house. You two should come visit!
Yes indeed that would be Mo's balcony.
The other roof window is the little cove in the master bedroom. It looks tiny in the interior photo but I think it is because of the scale of the built in drawers. It's really quite large. I've already claimed it (counting chickens again) for a reading nook outfitted with shelves and an easy chair!
you do of course realize that in his teenage years, Mo will be climbing out of that balcony to escape for night adventures...
That's a fantastic house!

Not to worry about now, that'll be in 10 yea- Er, 9 yea- Hmmm, well at least not for another 5 years.
Don't say that! My daughter already left home "for good", through the patio door, and wanted to move in with the neighbors which lasted about an hour.
That door has provided a real conversation point around here. It seems downright dangerous. We're investigating some kind of a split door where the bottome could be locked while allowing the top part to open.
I'm such a worry girl.
How old was she when she did that?
She was 10 years then, littlek.
boomerang, there is a similar house for sale in our neighborhood,
I will look for the listing and its pictures...
Here it is. The house was built in 1926 and remodeled.
Beautiful! I LOVE all of the porchs. I'm crazy for a porch. That's one of the things I really wish "our" house had. I suppose I can pretend the courtyard is a porch.
That thing would eat my house for breakfast!
It's nice, but it's too nice. Too manicured, too many bricks and a boring lawn. Your house, boomer, has far more character. The trees and vines in the backyard are so serene and peacefule. It looks like a home, not a mansion.
Boomer, your (almost) house looks great - and Mo looks huge to me! Very grownup.
I agree with dag, the house I've shown is too "doctored" up, and the
original charm of the house has somewhat gone (I know how it looked before).
So hopefully, your house will retain its charm, boomer.
Oh! I think that house is lovely. It reminds me of an area here in town called "The West Hills". The older houses all have small faces - very inconspicuous from the front - but the back of the house is quite grand.
I'm betting the inside of that house is wonderful.
I've been trying to find interior shots of tudor revival houses (that aren't the historic homes tour type) to get some ideas but what I'm mostly coming up with are other hand wringers like me.
The house is empty, boomer, but here are a few shots of bathroom,
kitchen and living/dining room.
Oh man. Gorgeous. I love the wainscoting. I am so completely going to do that in the kitchen and bathrooms.
It is really interesting how they painted the trim. Hmmmmm.....
I love that color of green in the hallway (?) -- that is almost the exact color that I have in my dining room, kitchen and hallway.
The light fixtures are great! "Our" house has some awful 70s type fixtures that need to be removed before I can live there.
I also really like the cabinet hardware. That settles something for me -- I have really great hardware on my cabinets that I bought at the rebuilding center -- old brass security gate handles. Really cool. I'm taking them with me. I'll find something else to leave here.
I keep going back to that bathroom .... ahhhhh.....
I love the leaded window in the bathroom.
i would probably kill, or at least bodily harm someone to have such bathroom and kitchen. like the colors, too. and the toilet water tank! and the bath tub, and the little shelves in the kitchen...and and and....sigh.
