This probably means that you said something that revealed something about you that you would prefer not be revealed. Usually "betrayed me" is used for things other than words. "The look in my eyes betrayed me." For example, "I said I was happy, but the look in my eyes betrayed me." Revealed that I wasn't happy.

Suggesting that words betrayed you implies a lack of self control.
