More sunshine today - Yaaay. I can finish mowing the yard. It's a big yard. Approx 2+ hectares.

Stradee, thanks for the umbrella. The past two weeks we needed one. And, the picture of the patio by the water looked inviting.

hohoho,

Merry Andrew, I have no Mr Ed here. I did have horses when I was a kid and did all the rodeo stuff - big assed bulls and mean horses. But, not recently. Very Happy

I have divided our yard in two - parts close to the house I use my riding mower - the other parts I use the bush hog on the back of my tractor. Actually, the tractor does a pretty decent job of mowing. Very Happy

And, ul, I leave the cut grass where it hits the ground - hoping it will retard the growth of the new grass..... But, it never works. The world just keeps getting bigger and bigger in diameter - by my estimate about a quarter of an in each year. And, it's all sunlight - turned into vegetation, which in turn falls and adds to the expansion, and the stuff that's eaten by animals turns into meat which adds eventually to the expansion, and we are all full of all the things that sunlight adds to the earth - expanding the diameter each day.

ul and Dan, send rain! Dang, the weathers hot!

Isn't that a cool pool! Appears to be set right on the ocean at eye level, but look closely and you'll see the retaining wall that is probably also a waterfall that recycles the pool water. Or not. LOL At any rate - I gotta get me onea them thar bear pools!

The heats affecting the wildlife. The local mephitis sprayed a neighbors puppy but the parfume did not stop there - instead floated through opened screened windows, coolers, and air conditioners! Poor Pepe, who normally saunters through the neighborhood leaving dogs and cats unscathed, appears to have enough of 100 plus 24/7 temps. - not to mention my neighbor and puppy who thankfully recovered with no injuries except the residue.

Wildlife has a tough time of it when there's drought or when the weathers extreme hot or cold. Tubs of fresh water for the deer, birds, and keeping Pepe away from the porch a good idea!

Dan, I thought you were making hay for all those horses in Texas

My daughter showed some of her pictures. They are beautiful and showed how they liked the country.

Stradee, I'm doing a rain dance for you as I type this. Not an easy thing to do - but, sounds like you need it. I've been watching the weather forecast for your area. Not good.

ul, my neighbor makes hay in those big round things that we used to call bales when I was young. But, bales are square. He planted bahaya grass years ago and it is the pest of all grasses. It is hard to mow and grows fast.

I just Googled bahaya and the entire first page of ten sites was how to kill it......... Shocked

Slightly getting warmer - but still a lot of showers - with forecasted temperatures of over 30°C on the weekend.

Too late for admiring these lillies from the deckchair, I suppose ...

I remember that hay was just collected and put loosely on the horse-drawn waggon - but I'm quite old-aged, though would get a reserved parking bay ... (from yesterday's [London] Evening Standard)

Pretty sunny colors.
Yes, it will be hot on the weekend here too and hopefully all next week Very Happy

This parking sign makes a great avatar for me

Dan,
I found that a bale of bahaya grass is sold for 150$- must be a huge bale.

I remember riding on a hay waggon drawn by horses- that was fun.
Steep slopes in Styria require a lot of manual work. Here the hay was cut by hand, then it was gathered and put in a "Manderl" (little man- which is a pole on which the hay is heaped to dry).

Collective thoughts and all....RAIN! Very Happy

Stepped outside earlier today ~ the oleander grove white blooms a marvelous contrast saying howdy to a very cloudy sky - hummingbirds at the feeder, finches quietly waiting their turn to roost sitting on the Japanese Maple outside the kitchen window...deer feeding quietly...kittens sitting on the porch reveling in a cool Sierra breeze...awsome nature!

Glad the weathers improving in Europe and TX as well.

Great photos, ul. Walter, pretty colors. Amigo, lovely.
