You guys are so cute! aww, is right Smile

ul, the furthest east i've traveled in the United States is Chicago, north to Montana, South - Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, CA - and drove the Pacific Coast from San Francisco to Washington. Seeing wildclickers photos of places i've not visited is a real treat. Thanks to you all! Very Happy

Today temps were a bit cooler, not quite 100 degrees. Still very warm though, but tomorrow a ten degree decrease from a cooling delta breeze. Hurray!

Howdy Ma n' You Very Happy

ehBeth, herons and egrets! ul, but certain if storks breed near Muir Park, they have very high places to keep their hatchlings safe. Smile

The sites along the coast are pretty spectacular, state parks, marine headlands, Mt. Tam, Stinson and protected parks, wildlife, and my favorite place is the Marine Mammal Center not far from Sausalito, and Muir Woods where 500 plus year old Redwood trees thrive.

Bolinas Lagoon Preserve
Great egrets and great blue herons nest here each spring. Harbor Seals are also inhabitants of Bolinas Lagoon. They may be watched from a distance, but approaching the seals, or harassing them in any way is a violation of federal law and is strictly enforced.

Point Reyes Lighthouse
A 308 step walkway leads to the 1870 lighthouse, built high on a Point Reyes cliff. Whale-watching is very popular here January through March. More than 70 miles of trails for hiking and biking weave through open pastures, rugged ridges, and coastal cliffs in this 70,000 acre wilderness area. Over 400 bird species have been seen at the Point Reyes Bird Observatory.

Assateague Island, Beach State Park, Northern California Coast - beautiful places. I have been to Maryland, but this jewel I didn't see.
We traveled through Florida, but missed your place, Danon.
One lovely stretch of West Coast beach was Canon Beach. No picture though, this was before I had a digital camera. I haven't mastered the art of scanning yet-

g'day widlclickers!

ul, The Farmers' Market on the Embarcadero is a must see, if only for the people that shop there each weekend, wearing nice shoes of all things. I'm the kinda girl who wears tennies when shopping for food still covered with peat from the fields. Pricey but good - the setting - and great restaurants to die for - the Embarcadero sits right on the Bay, and when weather permits {yesterday a beautiful 75 degrees} sitting at a bayside table and sharing lunch with friends, well, a neat place to visit.

And, don't forget Sausalito just N of the Golden Gate bridge. That's where the 'hippy' movement really got started in the early '60's. I recall the 'Village Fair' was the very first "indoor" shopping mall in the USA - at the time very unique. when there last Patti and I bought a large Jack Rabbit - we named it, "Sausalito Jack - the Village Fair Hare" It's sitting on the front porch as I type this.

There are many GREAT seafood restaurants all along the water at Berkeley.

And at Oakland just as you enter town is Jack London park with his actual house and the saloon he frequented imported from Canada.

And, don't forget the Winchester house in San Jose.........

And, and, - - - so little time - so much to see.

ul - that was a fun article on the Beach neighbourhood in Toronto. Setanta and I spent a couple of hours down there with the dogs this morning. It's a wonderfully dog-friendly zone. Cleo got a couple of good dog paddles in Very Happy

Stradee and Dan,
now I want to go too- lots of good ideas.
Dog and daughter are on their way to LA - they will fly home July 3rd. I am waiting for their stories and pictures.

ehBeth, maybe I chose the wrong destination for my summer. It is so hot here, now Canada "feels" more tempting than Mexico.
Not only students count down the days: 4 more to go!

Amigo, I like :Slow persistence wins the war.

Well, it's rather cold here (19°C) but stcky, with temperatures expected to go as low as 14°C on Wednesday ... and one shower follows the other.

Since pupils are on their 6th day of their holidays ... they are desperately waiting for the summer!

30C right now, we will have a storm tonight ( from the west, hi Walter) and then we will be down to 24C, which is normal for this time of the year.
Unsual was that we had a lot of tropical nights- more than 20C during the nights.

g'day all ~

ul, I hope you visit the bay area also! You won't be disappointed with all the great sites to see.

Dan, my grandfather and Jack London were buds, and at Jack London Square at the tavern, is a photo London and granddad! Very cool.

Hi Walter, ehBeth, and Amigo!

Walter, the weather here is pretty consitant for the California foothills, and during the summer there are wonderful thunder storms. Summer officially began on the 21st, so be patient - pretty soon hot days and balmy nights will appear. Smile

Beautiful weather today, but a very busy Stradee began her day at 4:00 am - Chevy check/up, birthday presents to shop for, and lots of work to accomplish at home too.

Kittens waving to wildclickers babies and wishing all a good day.
