is this possible?

So they say. But I'm a sceptic.
OK, let me be more precise. If you are already studying a language with some degree of seriousness while wide awake, then playing tapes in that language while you're asleep may well make a sub-conscious impression on your memory and help your mind to absorb vocabulary and nuances of proper pronunciation. But that's not the same as actually "learning" a new language on a subconscious level. What the subconscoious retains is not always relevant to what the conscious needs to know in order to achieve some level of fluency.
So is this an effective way to learn?
Currently I'm listening to these primsleur cds for the korean language, spending a few hours a day on each lesson. A lesson is about 30 minutes long and covers a few words with sentence structure. When I sleep, I play the lessons that I listened to during the day. How effective is this?
It might help speed up the learning process. Certainly can't hurt.
