From Night Owl to Early Bird

I have always been a night owl. I've dreaded the early rising habits of teacherdom. But, I am quite adept at getting up and to school on time. This surprises me. I once was able to sleep through hours of alarm clock and became proficient in shutting the buzzer off without waking.

But, gym before work....?!?! Never!

I very much would like to be a morning person. I am a grump when I wake up so it doesn't matter when that is. The sunlight helps erase the grumpiness a lot faster though.
Strangely enough, working night shifts has turned me over to the Kool-Aid drinking side.

This thread comes at the perfect time as the conversion will soon be taking place! yahhh!

Can't wait to join. Maybe even go to bed at a regular time. Blisstonia!

It's the Sun I crave the most.

Well, littlek, I don't actually go to the gym. I work out at home. Yeah, going to the gym before work? That would be pretty rough! (Some people actually do it, though. Yes, they're out there!)

This is what I'm finding. As much as I like nighttime, there is something energizing, refreshing and kind of.....ummm......uplifting about the mornings. I think we human beings crave light.

Sleep was non existant when I worked at the shop and was way beyond zombie land.

The 14 hr work days, 6 days a week didn't help! I don't know how the hell I did it! Shocked

I hate the early morning hours. I never have been any good that time of day. Before I had SonofEva, my most productive hours were 5 to 9 p.m. I never even started 'til noon. Unfortunately, once I had a child I was too tired to think in the evenings. So I had to get better about working during (so-called) regular hours. Still, I never start until 9 a.m.

Soz, the school routine will be a change, but you can do what a lot of us moms do. We wake up the kids, get them ready for school and feed them, then throw on some clothes and drive them there. Then we come home and get ready ourselves.

At least the requirements at that time can be enjoyable. Like the song says, it's five o'clock somewhere!

I used to be a Night Owl--but no longer.

My body has embraced the reality of the sun.

I used to be dawn person ~ no matter what time that was, I was up to see the sun rise over the horizon. I like the quiet and freshness of the early morning.

Now I find myself all over the place, likely because somedays my work stops at 4 p.m. and some days at 8 p.m. I think the key for me is the time between dinner and bed. It must be about 5 hours or I just don't get a restful sleep. So those late work days when I often don't get to eat until 9 p.m., I'm wide-eyed still at 1 or 2 a.m. The problem is that I can't seem to make myself accomplish anything in the evening.

I remain most productive between 8 a.m. and noon.

...and here I am at 6:56 AM on a Sunday morning, and nothing's happening here! It's interesting. Very similar to late nights, actually.

Still dark out.

And I'm not tired! I got plenty of sleep.

This whole thing has been interesting. Mostly it's been good, especially in terms of sozlet connecting with other kids.

But, for example, a favorite band will be playing at a local event starting at 8:00 PM. That used to be a no-brainer, of course we can go, but now it doesn't look like it. (We've started our bedtime routine by then.)

...since 6:35, which is approximately when I showed up, there has been just one post! Mine, above! It's weird, I tell ya, weird.

Gonna try to get some work done...

Starting Tuesday, we have to get up at 6:30 am too, and leave the house
by 7:30. The new school is downtown which translates to a longer commute
for us. I am so not looking forward to this.

Oooh, that sounds rough. Sozlet doesn't have to wake up until 7:30, but we've all been going to bed at the same time so I wake up well before she does.
