Bush the Saint
HERE IS A COMMENTARY ON YOUR PRESIDENT!
George W. Bush was scheduled to visit a black church in the South in an
attempt to improve his approval ratings.
Karl Rove sent an aide to visit the pastor of the church in secret with
the
following offer: "We've been getting a lot of bad publicity because of
the
president's position on the Iraq war, Katrina, race relations, and the
like.
"We'd gladly make a contribution to the church of $100,000 if during your
sermon you'd say the President
is a saint." The Pastor thought it over for a few moments and finally
said, "This Church is in desperate need of funds so I will do it."
When Bush showed up for the service he sat in the front pew on the center
aisle, surrounded by his entourage. All the cameras were on Bush as the
Pastor began the sermon by saying: I'd like to speak to you all this
morning
about our President.
George Bush is a coward and a liar who has committed a lot of evil deeds
since he took office.
He used the tragedy of September 11 to frighten and manipulate the
American
people.
He lied about weapons of mass destruction and invaded Iraq for oil and
money
and to feel like a bigger man
than his father.
He has personally approved of torture at Abu Ghraib and Gitmo and in
secret
prisons in foreign countries.
His incompetent foreign policy has caused the deaths of tens of thousands
of innocent civilians, thousands
of our own young soldiers, and has made the United States the most hated
country on earth.
He inherited a surplus and spent us into a staggering national debt of
trillions and trillions of dollars.
He appointed cronies to positions of power and influence, leading to
widespread death and destruction
during Hurricane Katrina.
He is frightening the elderly by trying to privatize Medicare and Social
Security.
He has allowed polluters to write the anti-pollution laws endangering our
air and water and other natural
resources.
He's fought against funding for stem cell research that could help treat
diabetes and Alzheimer's
disease.
He instituted illegal wiretaps, and had his yes-men lie to Congress about
it.
Through his signing statements he frequently claims that he is above the
law.
He is here today not because he expects to get black votes but because he
thinks that being seen worshipping at a black church will convince
moderate
white voters that he is not a racist.
He supported no-bid contracts and tax cuts that put millions of dollars
into the pockets of the richest of
the rich, while cutting funding for feeding the poor, clothing the naked,
and tending the sick.
He is the worst example of a true Christian I've ever known.
But compared to Dick Cheney, George W. Bush is a saint."
