The human world was more viable (than the spiritual world). I need the possible meanings of "viable" here. Giving the possibility of success?
Sorry if I won't be able to comment on all answers. The questions are getting too numerous for that. I read every single post.
Some indication of the fairly immediate context would be helpful. "Viable" is one of those words which seems to have escaped from the narrow confines of a specialised meaning. It has a meaning in a biological sense, when applied to seeds, organisms, etc, of "capable of life or normal growth and development". One could talk of "viable seeds" or of "a viable foetus". Then it was adopted by the world of business and came to have a further meaning of "feasible, capable of being done with means at hand and circumstances as they are". It became even more generally used by "educated" people to mean "usable, practical, or healthy" or "likely to succeed". Nowadays "more viable" can just mean "preferable" or "easier".
Often words are borrowed from specialist areas and used by people to "pep up" their discourse to make themselves sound more intelligent, and thus the original narrow meaning becomes wider and more vague.
Viable is usually used as a synonym for practical. Thus, it is context dependent -- because it does not specify what it is practical for.
OK, I've chosen the "success" version.
