A metaphor meaning that a piece of music, for example, is too old to be enjoyable nowadays. "Dust" doesn't mean "the dead body"; it seems to be some Arabic tradition of taking dust from tombs of saints, that is dirt. What do you think?
It's just the dust of the decomposed.
Joe(dust to dust)Nation
Part of the burial service reads, "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust."
The tune is so old that its muscles and bones and rhythm have all turned to dust.
