Hi everyone. I am having trouble the Lovatt's Cryptic. I've answered all of the puzzle with no help but there is one word which is driving me crazy. The clue is "not a description of those who are late" My answer pattern is A?I?E.
Any takers?

Could it be "alive"? Not late as in not deceased?

To Tai Chi, Thanks very much. I think your lateral thinking is spot on. I've put that in the crossword. Greatly appreciated. Ragdoll.
