I am trying to stay fluent in Russian, but I have no Russians around to speak with. I got a Russian TV channel for a while, but its $15 a month. Does anyone have a link to Russian TV over the net?

My son retains a fluency in Russian by working in the field (he's a chemist), and speaking Russian with all kinds of people he meets. Since my daughter also speaks Russian, they talk to each other. They tell me there are many Russian speakers around - far more than they realized.

However, the difference may be in that they each work in fields that require languagages, so they each also have other languages they use.

I'll be working as a chemist soon, too. I'm hoping that the language is useful... you give me hope.

And thanks for the link Smile

Well, actually, the Russian came in handy once he started working for international companies. He started out as a Russian major, and then switched to chemistry.

Quite often (but not always) the more languages you know, the better your chances. You might check on night-school courses, and try auditing some. This was you could get to practise speaking, and you might even meet some people who speak Russian.
