@ossobuco,
Here's one that didn't make it as human attractive...at least not to this human, but it's a doozy!

It has squeezy tunnels:

And...it's nearly 6 foot tall!

Yep - we all miss him, too. Brings tear to eye just to be reminded of him.

@dlowan,
My, my, that's ugly. (Considers new design field..)

We could work on this. What do cats like?

add to this list...

tops of kitchen cabinets if the cabinets don't fit to the ceiling
tops of bookshelves
tops of chair backs

Aack, better a new thread... sorry, Penny bumps.

@ossobuco,
I saw in some book a really cool design...it entailed walk spaces for the cats strung just below the ceilings....and access to them kind of integrated into the furniture design.

This was clearly a very cat-focused home, but, what with the trend to lighting tracks and visible utility installations and such it kind of looked like part of the trendiness of the place.

@dlowan,
reminds me of an article I saved about a couple building a screened in cat walk around the outside of their house.. screened to protect birds primarily.

@ossobuco,
<<more on the adventures of Penny>>

Penny arrived in San Diego on a sunny August day and headed down to the harbor to take a look around.

Road weary, Penny took a rest on a rock and enjoyed the sites and sounds of the harbor.

After a brief stay, it was off to the airport as Penny headed south to Costa Rica!

@thegalacticemperor,
Thanks for taking and posting those pictures B!

--------------------------------------------------

Time to schedule Penny's next trip. Oil is low right now, and I'd like to book quickly to take advantage of it.

Like I'd said, I'm willing to give sozlet a choice out of the countries that neighbor Costa Rica, and I'll take Penny there in November.

But I'd like to book within the next few days so if I don't hear from her I'm going to go ahead and pick myself. And please tell her that if any of these fares shoot up more than $200 between now and then I'll have to pick another location (tell her this isn't vacation to me, it's a bill to live in a country as a tourist).

Here is a list of what flights I've found that fit my visa trip budget (at current prices, they can change pretty wildly):

Bogota, Colombia
Medellin, Colombia
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
Guatemala City, Guatemala
San Salvador, El Salvador
Belize City, Belize
Tegucigalpa, Honduras

Of course, there is also Panama and Nicaragua, but I've been to both this year so would prefer one of the above.

@Robert Gentel,
Wow...!

She first selected Guatemala City "because it sounds like guacamole." Um.

My dad had a hippie friend in college in Madison who went off to Belize and became some sort of rich island dude... my dad was extremely jealous and so "Belize" has always been synonymous with "paradise" to me (we'd get occasional postcards and such).

Sozlet says that any of them are totally fine with her, up to you!

She's a bit amazed that she has any input into this decision. Shocked I get the sense that she wants to proclaim something just for the fun of making you actually do it.

She just said "actually I want Belize" but I think I influenced her with what I just wrote (she's reading over my shoulder).

Whatever is cheapest and fun-est!

@sozobe,
I'll probably have been to them all within a year, so I'll just go with Guatemala because I'd have to land at Guatemala (and likely El Salvador) anyway to get to Belize and I'm hoping for an easier trip without as many stops. Plus, I'd want to spend more time than I can this time around if I went to Belize.

Guatemala City is perfect for me for this trip, it sounds boring and because I'm going to be pretty traveled out when I go there that'll be perfect and I won't be missing much by being too lazy to get out and see much.

I just checked the flights and they are probably the cheapest as well, and at an hour and a half it's a nice quick trip. Off to book the flight!

She seems to have been hoping for Guatemala City because that got a big smile...

Have fun!

@ossobuco,
My memory of landing at Guatemala City airport was the array of old plane wrecks lined up along the side of the runway...

well, this was in the seventies.
