Do you suppose the folks at customs kept her for a while for a visit? I'd love to hear about her adventures between continents.

I have strong suspicious that the Chinese conducted a thorough investigation of her little side trip. They are nervous about the Olympics this summer.

If the bloody rain doesn't let up, she may soon need to become a swimmer.

Over 80% of this country is still in drought, and some places haven't seen decent rain for over 5 years.

Sydney is just about awash - and we still have level 3 water restrictions!

I've arrived in Sydney at last, after a very long trip. I was very glad to get to margo's house.

Margo posted a pic of me in her hat just after I arrived. She wanted me to wear the Akubra, an Australian hat, but her Akubra and I are exactly the same colour, so you couldn't see me at all.

On Friday night, we went out to dinner at a Spanish tapas restaurant, to celebrate a couple of birthdays (Maria and Len), and Jerry's leaving the next day for San Francisco to get married! But someone forgot to take the camera.

There was heaps of food, and I tried some sangria - only a taste, though!

There were some flamenco dancers, just amazing! The women had beautiful scarves, so dramatic, very noisy! When we got home, we put on some more flamenco mysic, and margo found me a lovely silk scarf to wear while I am here:

Possum IS enormous!! Penny isn't nearly as tiny as she looks in those pics...

We had a quiet day on Saturday (some overindulging by our hostess the night before.)

Saturday night, we went into the city, by bus, to have dinner with some friends, to celebrate Wil's birthday and Chinese New Year. Christine knew this tiny restaurant, not far from where they live in Chinatown. They prepare a special noodle dish for New Year, and of course, we had to try some. When it arrives at the table it's all in separate sections, and all mixing it together brings good luck:

The adults drank champagne and some other wine - but I stayed right away, and drink some of Alex's soft drink.

Penny, it's great to see that you're still such a courageous sampler of foods and experiences.

Sunday norning, and margo was planning to play tennis.

But she says she has a year's supply of laundry, and the sun is shining (a bit) so domestics it is!

Poss-cat has dozens of stuffed toys, from all around the world, and I met some of them:

Margo has her own hand puppet, a brush-tailed possum (Poss-cat was named after him!). We hang out a bit, being a bit alike:


Before we head out and about this afternoon, margo gave a quick lesson about the size of Australia:

No distance at all from Denver to Uluru (Ayers rock) is it.

I'm sure, Penny had had another nice week in Australia ...

Penny's fine - we went out for some sightseeing yesterday afternoon.

Weather was lousy - overcast, with a little rain, so photos are crap.
