Incredible!
Who can top that visit? No one!

That was a great visit for Penny, very educational and rewarding.
Applause for Dasha!

Shocked

I usually don't care one way or the other about meeting celebrities, but this guy is one of my Real Life Heroes. This is unbelievable.

I don't know whether I'm more shocked at the idea of Penny meeting him, or Dasha working just one floor below him.

I'm going to go lie down now. I'm feeling a little dizzy.

Heh, it's none of my doing, for sure. Penny and I have my boss to be grateful to. Hillel has known EW since he was 17. EW sent him to Russia at that age and that landed him in KGB detention cell for three days. They are good friends and still meet once a week. I use Hillel's office for work, so it's really his office that's one floor below, not mine. It took some courage to waltz into EW's office with a toy hamster, but hey... everything should be at least tried!

It's an accomplishment for your Life Resume, that's for sure.

Imagine telling your grandkids one day about waltzing into Elie Wiesel's office with a toy hamster. (I bet they'll know who he was, too.)

Cool! The picture is so large I can duplicate Dasha's car key and steal her car! Cool If only my eyes weren't distracted by this Nobel price winning dude to the right of the key....

Penny has the most exciting adventures!

And yes, Dasha's connection to Hillel and EW (and jes's too) are making my head spin a little.

It's a bike lock, Thomas. I have a serious bike lock. You'd have to fight me for it.

Penny and I went to see Zanna Don't! tonight, but they forbid us to take pictures. I thought I'd sneak a clandestine photo, but my batteries died. It wasn't meant to be. We had a blast anyway. Penny cried a little, too, but luckily it had a happy ending, as a proper musical should.

It's been quite a while since we've heard anything about Penny.

Where is she now?

phew

I've been bugging the mailroom every day - we thought there was some kind of customs thing happening.

I'll let the mailroom folks know.

Aww, Walter looks So Sad!

Cheer up, Walter, I'm sure she'll be fine. No hurry either -- next stop is FreeDuck in December, I think. (FreeDuck, when will you need Penny?)

For a really good time, use the Canadian Post to communicate with the
Canadian bureaucracy. We went nuts waiting for the pieces of red-tape
paperwork to arrive so we could bring Nigel to McGill. The last document
arrived the day before we left!

I've send a parcel (a bit less than 5 kg) on a Monday from here to Chicago - it arrived there on Saturday the same week.

My CDs from New Orleans arrive here within 10 to 14 days (deoending of "watched in" by the customs) .... by normal post, not "premium airmail".
