Bushie's Loose Lips Endangers Troops

Last night Countdown with Keith Olbermann carried this story. Bushie used a map to make his point. The problem is the insurgents could use this map to pinpoint US positions in Baghdad. Real stupid Bushie. "Like a general outlining his battle plan, the president delivered a step-by-step analysis of the conflict in Baghdad, Anbar Province and the outskirts of Baghdad. He began with a map that used red triangles to pinpoint the location of joint security stations, posts in Baghdad where American and Iraqi forces are supposed to work to root out terrorists." link

I looked at the link and the only map I see is a thumbnail so in order to see it larger someone has to become a member. I don't want to be a member.

btw no where do I see the term "Bushie" in the article. I believe his title is
President Bush.

TTH, the map is not available in the article and that dont matter anyway. The point is Bushie is making it very easy to mark coordinates that insurgents can use to rain down missiles on our troops. Certainly a stupid breach of security by Bushie to say the least.

How has done as much as anyone could possibly do to damage and endanger everything that Americans hold near and dear.
Calling him Bushy compared to what I would call and wish upon him is practically a name of endearment

If you can't see the map used then how do you know what was shown and it does matter if it was used to pin point positions.
I don't believe everything I read.

THe Bush's new plan the surge is an exercise in futility and provides more targets for the insurgents to shoot at. We can't even protect the most fortified area in Baghdad the Green zone.

I hardly think it is a big secret where US and Iraqi forces have stations in Baghdad. One could probably walk down the streets of Baghdad to pinpoint them. It would be the building with blast walls and a bunch of soldiers outside.

Yes, Bush is an idiot but holding up a map where our troops are stationed isn't exactly revealing any military secrets or strategies that could be used by the enemy.

It is called respect for a title, a position. It doesn't matter whether you or I like the person or not or even who it is. I would never say "tony" when referring to the Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Like this forum, I address people by their full forum name unless they tell me otherwise or I ask. I may not like them but I will still call them by their full forum name.
I personally don't have a problem in others shortening my name without asking me. It doesn't bother me. I was brought up to address people by their full name. So, that is what I do.
Political figures are totally different. It is a title or position, not the person.

Exception: marlboro thread- it became common just to shorten or nic-name someone if they stay. That to me is a term of endearment.

I respect the title but I have only contempt for the clown that now wears it. IMO his actions are nothing less than criminal.

The realization that Bush had demonstrated a strategic map on TV was noticed by a former Marine officer who served both in Iraq and Afghanistan, who recognized the value of the information immediately.

But a person who holds a title can sometimes inspire such extreme disrespect that it becomes common acceptable to refer to them in less than respectful terms. For example: Saddam. If Bush is disrespected I dare say he's earned it.

Bio: Paul Rieckhoff

Paul Rieckhoff is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Executive Director and Founder of IAVA (Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America), the country's first and largest Iraq Veterans group. IAVA is a non-partisan, non-profit organization headquartered in New York City.

Rieckhoff is a nationally recognized authority on the war in Iraq and issues affecting troops, military families and veterans. His critically-acclaimed memoir, Chasing Ghosts was recently publilshed by Penguin.

Rieckhoff created IAVA in June 2004 along with a few dedicated Veterans, a handful of volunteers, and some serious credit-card debt. In less than one year, the organization had attracted thousands of Iraq War Veterans and more than 65,000 grassroots supporters across America. Whether you are an Iraq/Afghanistan Veteran or not, you can become a part of the new Veterans movement here.

The rapidly-growing membership of Iraq and Afghanistan war Veterans began speaking out on the airwaves and in the newspapers. The media quickly came to realize that Troops returning from the thick of battle possessed a uniquely informed and valuable perspective. By the beginning of 2005, appearances or statements by IAVA members had made well over 100 million media impressions worldwide. Today, IAVA continues to be a force in the media. The organization also makes an impact in Washington DC--and in cities and towns across America. IAVA conducts a nationwide college tour, testifies at congressional hearings, and crafts and supports critical legislation proposed by both republicans and democrats.

After graduating from Amherst College in 1998 with a degree in Political Science, Rieckhoff coached high school football, worked on Wall Street, participated in the rescue efforts at Ground Zero on 9/11, and served as an infantry platoon leader in Iraq from 2003-2004. In the spring of 2004, Rieckhoff became one of the first Iraq veterans to publicly criticize the war and demand accountability from elected officials.

He is a regular commentator on TV and radio and recent appearances include: ABC's This Week with George Stephanopoulos, CNN's Paula Zahn Now, Anderson Cooper 360, Fox's Hannity and Colmes, and MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews. In November 2004, Rieckhoff was honored by Esquire magazine as one of "America's Best and Brightest for 2004" and was interviewed Tom Brokaw on The NBC Nightly News.

Rieckhoff has also had opinion pieces printed by AlterNet, Knight-Ridder and the International Herald Tribune and has been featured in The New York Times, Washington Post, L.A. Times, Army Times, Wall Street Journal, Reuters, New York Daily News, Newsday and A.P.

Rieckhoff is a staunch political independent and lives in New York City's East Village.

I agree. I've been very impressed with Paul Reickhoff's advocacy for our troops as well as our veterans. He knows of what he speaks.

X marks the spot. Bushie's surge is the dumbest battle plan since the Little Big Horn. Sleeping with the enemy in neighborhoods where our troops are most hated. Police stations in Iraq are the most dangerous barracks in the world these days. In addition Bushie showing that map of troop locations the other day is X marks the spot for insurgents. "Car bombing at base kills 9 U.S. troops" link "It began with a suicide car bombing, then gunfire on soldiers pinned down in a former Iraqi police station, where fuel storage tanks were set ablaze by the blast."
