The Club

No I don't mean Studio 54 and no I don't mean the fancy, rich golf course down the street. I mean, The Club.

I've seen two of them recently in cars. And not the "I picked this up at the local used car shop for $3000 just to have 4 wheels and a windshield" type cars. These were nice cars. One an SUV.

Now, have people not figured out that the club is WORTHLESS? Even back in the day when the Club first came out and was a national hit, they were crap.

And now, today in the age of electronic security and tech-savvy thieves who can break in and steal a car in under 30 seconds, we still have people who think that a piece of metal across the steering wheel will protect their car from being stolen. Rolling Eyes

That device will not keep your car from being stolen. It may deter at the least. There are just too many electronic ways to catch people.
Did it ever occur to you they could used in set-ups though?

And why would they deter anyone?

Cut the steering wheel and go.

No alarms go off. Nothing happens.

Not all thieves are intelligent. Most aren't.

Ok so I'll ask AGAIN. What do you mean by set ups?

By who?

For what?

And why?

Not true. Some are pretty dumb.

But it doesn't take a genius to saw through the steering wheel, remove the stupid club and hot wire the car.

First off, I don't use the Club. But IMO, if kids are looking for a joyride, and they see a bunch of cars, they will go to the car that seems to be the least protected. So if one car has the Club, and the next one doesn't, they will pick the one that doesn't.

For professional thieves, the club is a joke

Phoenix, you're right.

But most cars now come equipt with security systems installed.

My car, which was only a $15,000 car, has a feature on it that if the alarm goes off, the car will not start and you can't get it out of gear. So if someone breaks in, that sucks. But my car will still be there with a broken lock or window.

And kids looking for a joy ride are going to find an unlocked car probably to avoid the chance of alarm.

They don't need to start it to steal it.

Embarrassed

I remember in the Club's heyday, how easy it was to remove that bastard.

I got a few cars that way.

I even left the club in a parking space one time.

Ornery little snot I was..

Nooooo, but you have to unlock the steering wheel to move it. And you have to get the gears unlocked, which requires turing the ignition.

You can move it without unlocking the steering wheel.
